Hi everyone!

I know this may not be the right place to post this but for those who have gotten COPR, PR and the likes you may be able to chime a tip or two to help especially if you were once in a similar situation.
its wil be 15 months soon since AOR and i have not heard a word from IRCC. I have sent emails, ordered GCSM notes , done everything within my power to see what is causing the hold up. Medicals has expired, they didnt even ask for a re-med yet. Last GCSM noted i got in september 2018 said security check had not started, everything else looked ok.
I am moving on with life o, but i can't help with this hanging over me like a fruit hanging from a tree but out of my reach. My sister in canada said maybe the fruit is not yet ripe so i should wait for it to drop by itself grin grin

Any tips will be appreciated on what to do besides sitting like a duck.

I'm so sorry about this delay, it's disheartening. I like that you can still smile

Last i checked, moved from London to Kyiv.

That means your AOR was sometime in November 2017. What's your visa office? This feels like the handiwork of AVO.

I know the wait is draining but try ordering notes again. I'm positive they'll contain some new information. Keep being strong, you'll surely get your PPR.

In addition to Zutlin's post. I do not believe you need to learn Java to get a good job in Canada or the States. There are lots of careers you can choose from. You can try the java thing for a while to determine if it is something you would love doing or not. I took programming and networking courses all though my academic pursuit, but I disliked them; hence, I can't see myself working in IT. You should be enjoying a job and not enduring it.

As per the blue collar job:

1. Much depends on where you go in Canada. E.g For two similar jobs, the entry requirements will have varying level of difficulty based on how large the city is.

2. Blue collar could be classified into two i.e. skilled blue worker (technician/trades) and unskilled blue worker (factory worker, labourer etc). For the former, they are regulated and you would require some sort of certification, education or apprenticeship; hence, they are more competitive and not easy to come by. You could get the latter the moment you step off a plane.

Goodluck in whatever decision you make.

Oga Salford, thanks for your great work on this thread. I know that HR is regulated in Canada so I have been considering changing career (Finance/Data Science) before I land in Canada. Would you kindly shed more light on how easy it is to get a HR job in Canada .

Other Ogas thought are welcomed.

Thanks

Help o

Except you're trying to save costs, there's no need for the physical report anytime soon. You can make use of the soft copy to submit your application, while you wait for the hard copy

You're likely to get more information and help on the 'express entry thread' but you'll have to calm down and read what is required. You can start with simulating your scores on the crs calculator, then come over to the other thread and ask specific questions. I'm sure you'll understand it better

You can know through GCMS notes or by raising a CSE.

I have just the BABOK. I'm FEB AOR so maybe that's why i feel like i have some time, even though i know the things i'm expected to learn are plentiful. But all things being equal, my tentative plan is to register by May and write in June. In addition to this, i ll spend some time on Youtube and buy some courses on Udemy, especially to learn the use of the relevant software

bLacKGoLd3:

Do you have study materials other than BABOK?
What's your timeline? I just downloaded the BABOK, but I'm looking at 2 months max.

When I mean simulate, I mean try to see if for example you achieve certain milestones on the calculator, how many points do you have. So I know you said you're currently serving, at the end of the service year you will have 1year of work experience, so how old are you, do you have any other certificates apart from your bsc, are you a lawyer or did you study a 'professional' course, you'll also have to take the English language exam(IELTS), so let's say you achieve 8777 in LWRS what will your scores be. That's why I said you need to be on the other thread as well. Let me know your details so I can help with the calculator

ICES does not send ECA by email. I guess that's why he/she is asking for a Canadian address, so that receipt of the hard copy will be fast (since its Canada to Canada mailing), compared to mailing it to Nigeria (i'm assuming the recipient is in Nigeria) which may take longer than normal especially if it's not sent by courier.

Hi All,

It is great to see people willing to help and answer all kinds of questions. It should be encouraged.

However, all questions on express entry and the process of immigrating to Canada should be referred to the sister thread: https://www.nairaland.com/5031893/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled.

Thanks.

@Einsteino. I believe you once asked this same question.

@Aka2003 I am new in Canada ( Calgary). I am an engineer with some experience. I am considering getting my PEng from APEGA but don't know how to go about it exactly. Do I go down the EIT route ( I have more than 4 years experience outside Canada in Nigeria) or can I get the PEng directly? Also in the mean time, are there any short courses that I can take to get some Canadian education that will help me to at least get into the market? Your advice is appreciated.

I applied for EIT but in hindsight I wish I applied for P.Eng, I may even withdraw my EIT application and submit a fresh application for P.Eng. You would need 1year canadian experience before your P.Eng would be approved but you wouldn't need it to apply or get the process started.

As for courses, you can gun for short courses in areas like construction estimating, that way you can apply for alternative entry level roles. What I think is most important is gaining Canadian experience via a civil engineering related job. One way to do this is to find an internship/volunteer program.
