i don't think your soil test scope and cost should depend on proposed structure.

The deliverables of the soil test should tell you how much load the soil can safely support and various depth, you then use this to cross-check with your proposed structure if it falls within the safe range. its not the other way round where.

Infact you shouldn't tell the soil test engineer what you plan to build, otherwise they can work from answer to question for you. rather, they should tell you the maximum structure you can erect based on the soil test results

Evaowokotomo:
Please, does anyone knows how much it cost to do a soil test?

Larwin:

Soil testing cost depends on the scope of work, the size of the land and the structure to put on.

For a simple duplex in Lagos and suburb, the cost is generally not less 300k. It should include cpt, spt and laboratory analysis.

shocked

I don’t see how, asking how much others have bought 20tons/30tons of high silty sharp sand is seen as marketing. People have posted building price quotes given to them by contractors on this thread and people have helped them know if they were been ripped off or not.

Please nairalanders I need an urgent help from you guys, I’m constructing a 5 bedroom flat all en-suite with an ante room and I am at the roofing stage but my problem is that my carpenter just told me that the roof area I’d 1108 square meters after I told him to measure it in preparation for roofing. I am not convinced because I have had the opportunity to look at other house here in nairaland are almost the size of mine yet they say their roof area is 400 and something square meters. Please how do I know the real measurement?

Is there any disadvantage or implications in using the standard size door for toilet instead of the normal toilet size door? Thank you

No disadvantages so far the size of your toilet and bathroom is big enough

@ oga at top is it necessary to put pillar to a bungalow building on a solid ground ?
Not necessary
But if it is a large one like a hospital or school with long span, there is need to include pillars
Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by Rubbiish(m): 7:52am On Mar 01, 2019
Dubemcapital1:

Is necessary, though with Y10 you are good but not a must.

However, if the building have a parapet, decken above the kitchen or is massive ( too many rooms) you will surely need pillars though the ground may be solid.

*Always design your building with a professional architect and impliment it with a good engineer for posterity sake. Thanks
It is necessary but not a must?
Your statement is contradictory sir
