Hi Guys,

So I considered spreading my tentacles here to mark "Landing thesis"...

But it seems this group is made up of more serious people that may not be interested in my professorial services.

Should I go ahead? or not ??

grin grin

You and your marking. What's your AOR date? It seems this marking is a coping mechanism for you ehn. grin

Well... my wait was really not the motivation for starting the marking stuff sha...

It was to encourage people to give very robust application experiences when announcing their PPR.

If you check from trends before marking started, people were giving very scanty PPR messages.

Somehow it encouraged people to add more flesh to it.

However, I won't lie that it has not helped me cope through all the wait.

I'm 5 months post aor... I can't complain sha... but i don tire mhen!!

If you can post them on the express entry thread, that will be fine, just quote me when you do, it's not your personal details or anything. Just so it can add to the body of knowledge there. Also, others can contribute from their own experiences.
Ok thanks chief... I'd meet you there...

Long, Boring Landing Gist alert…..….

My journey started out @ 4:30am on Saturday 23rd Feb. My flight wasn’t until 1:45pm but I had to beat the ban on movements during election that commenced at 6:00am, luckily I was able to make it to the airport in an hour. Checking in wasn’t smooth as my bags were overweight and I had an extra luggage of about 23kg. I had to part with some good cash because I wasn’t going to bin any item, not after all the thoughtfulness and hard work my mum had put into purchasing and packaging those items for me. Flight from LOS to Addis Ababa took off on time, about 5hours travel time, multiple meals, numerous empty seats for relaxation (about 60% of the aircraft was empty due to cancellations because of elections).

Flight from Addis Ababa to Dublin and then Toronto was really long (16 hrs) but smooth, I slept through most of it though. Aircraft was filled; mostly with white Canadians, Ethiopian Air kept bombarding us with different meals at intervals. The meals weren’t as bad as i anticipated, overall I was Impressed by the Cabin Crew and their services. We arrived Toronto on Sunday, 24th Feb at about 7:00am. I proceeded immediately to immigration and customs to get my landing sorted out, the place was empty and I was done in less than 10 minutes. While rounding off to leave the immigration counter, I noticed so many folks flocking in to sort out their landing. I was grateful I didn’t have to wait on that long cue. I proceeded to grab my bags from baggage point and my friend was there in no time to pick me up.

My final destination was Saskatoon and the flight was for 6:55pm, so I had some time to see Toronto a bit with my friend and then we went to her place where I ate and rested. We then went to Canada Post to send my luggage to Saskatoon to cut cost before heading to the airport at about 4:30pm. Flight to Saskatoon through Calgary was delayed till 8:05pm, that was when I realised it wasn’t the same air bus from Toronto-Calgary-Saskatoon. Due to the delay I missed the connecting flight from Calgary to Saskatoon. Air Canada booked us into a hotel for the night and we were told we would be put on standby for flights taking off on Monday and Tuesday, however if we weren’t lucky to get a seat we would have to wait till Wednesday to get a flight to Saskatoon. That news was a little distressing considering the number of hours I had travelled already but I tried to stay upbeat and have as much fun as I could.

Luckily a Syrian Medical Doctor working in Saskatoon was on the same flight and he had to get to work ASAP, so he approached some of the stranded passengers to join him to rent a car and take a road trip to Saskatoon. Others declined but I was all in as I couldn’t imagine being stuck in Calgary for two more days. It turned out to be a wise decision, the road trip was fun, we stopped multiple times to eat and take in the view. While basking in the euphoria of the trip, I forgot to contact my friends in Saskatoon to let them know I was fine, so they were worried about me, however I had informed them before setting out on the road trip, and had sent a picture of the doctor’s driver’s license and the car plate number to them for safety reasons.

We finally arrived Saskatoon at about 6:00pm, I contacted my host who was relieved and rushed to the airport to pick me up. I had a very warm welcome and good food, before settling in. The next day being Tuesday, I went out to get my SIN and a Mobile Phone number. So far I have been able to open an account with RBC, registered with Saskatoon Open Door Society, make appointment for house viewing, gotten an adult bus pass, done some shopping and gone round the city multiple times. Saskatoon is a nice place but the cold here is unreal lol. Overall It has been quite an experience and I’m adjusting pretty well. Now I need a Job ASAP.

My impressions about Canada so far.…
Canada is an expensive place to live in as compared to the UK. Canada doesn’t appear to be rich, they just make the most of what they have. Technologically they’re a bit behind the UK and US. The population is relatively small compared to the land mass. Finally, I’m not sure Canadians are as nice as projected from my experience but I'm hopeful.

My people good day, I'm wondering if SK is a good idea for a new immigrant to land and if there are also huge job market for people in finance. Although I'm aware that Ontario is the financial hub of Canada, just want to know about Saskatoon.

Your input will be greatly appreciated, thanks

Am waiting to read about your opinions too. Seems not so many NLs are there cos an yet to read any landing gist about this province

Hello Junebaby,

You have to be a member of ACCA before you can commence the conversion process.

If you have any additional questions, you can chip them in... I am ready to answer.

Hi Phemmy, I know there's a centre in Ontario, I'm heading to Winnipeg, we don't have a centre there, so I would have to go to Ontario. I guess you might have to do that too.

Check ACCA website for the list of all centres

Cheers.

Yeah I checked ACCA site and seems only Ontario has an Exam centre, was actually looking for a tuition centre also.

I agree, your marking has resulted to more people giving very detailed analysis of their experience, and for people like me, it means less visits to almighty page 1.

I cant wait to read your own script..may God hasten the speed.
