Those days, the north sent intending cadets to the NMTC, which later became NDA based on community leader recognition or high school principal testimonial of good behavior, not necessarily WAEC certificate holders... Do you know that the 1949 constitutional conference in Ibadan, which was to lead to the Lyttleton constitution of 1951, the northern region NPC leaders asked for 50% representation of her youths, in the officers corp of the armed forces of the Federation of Nigeria, wether these youths are academically qualified or not? I guess no one told you that Buhari, and a host of other early military officers were beneficiaries of this constitutional privilege
