It's great to see these brilliant young minds achieving academic success and what not, but the problem with Nigerians centres around their lack of creativity. It's not always about being book smart, some of the technological inventions we enjoy today weren't created by the top students but by curious minds. I know a guy who's so smart and has 4 PhDs but he has never worked a day in his life, after he completes one degree, he goes back for another one. This guy is 45 years old and he's going for his 5th post graduate degree. I wish them well, and I hope they make us proud. Perhaps one day my own children will sing their song like I recite this quote "in 1994 Rashidi Yekini became the first Nigerian player to score in the World Cup tournament where we defeated Bulgaria 3-0."
Some people just like the school enviroment.

That Olamise guy from UI had an offer from Shell...

Rejected it and went to MIT

You're a foolish and a waste product oughtering such statement. Cant you just congratulate them and move on? Must everything be tribalism? Every tribe in Nigeria has set and broke record across the world. I'm sure you're jealous because none of your family has ever gotten such greatness. I'm sure you also criticize the notherns, but let me tell u a story of a Fulani boy who graduated from a Russian school with 5.0GP in a medical course. Please have sense ok

Trust me, so sad - we have "lost" theses two great minds. Oyibo don't joke with their scholarship and scholars. They will want you to stay and contribute to their country. Until our structural defects as a nation are fixed, we would continue to loose our best minds.

we have lost countless and thousands of record-breakers in foreign universities to the host nation due to stupidity and lack of focus of our leaders. For our leaders, those thing does not make sense to them. There is no data base of our highly brilliant minds and innovators. Those in the helm of authorities do not place priority on human capacity development.

I wish them success in their various endevour.

They both join Solomon Oyakhire, an alumnus of the University of Lagos, who was the only Nigerian recipient of the scholarship in the first edition in 2018 and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in chemical engineering at Stanford School of Engineering.

69 students who won the scholarship from around the world for The second cohort of scholars in the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program was announced on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. He became a sensation in Nigeria and on social media when he became the first person to graduate with a perfect 5.0 CGPA from the University of Lagos. He was honored by the House of Representatives for his outstanding academic achievements. Ayo Dada aspires to find solutions to the problems of ethnic and gender prejudice and academic underachievement that are plaguing Nigeria. He interned in security services at the Central Bank of Nigeria, and in business operations at Procter and Gamble. He was named one of Ten Outstanding Young Persons of Nigeria. Ayo Dada would be pursuing a Ph.D. in psychology at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences.

As a research assistant at the MIT Energy Initiative, he helped develop a computational model to inform electrification planning for increased electricity access in developing countries.

At the University of Ibadan, Olamide was selected as the university’s Google Student Ambassador, and was editor-in-chief of the Bello press organization. He has worked with various organizations across India, Spain, and the United States at the nexus of engineering, data science, and energy economics, and has completed community development and engineering projects in Nigeria.

I often wonder what would happen if the 'shake across the Niger' was for real and the Igbo and Yoruba truly come together and agree on important issues. I guess the Nigeria of our dream would materialize faster than imagined. If and only if we can stop fighting each other and think of showing these gworo chewing abokis where they really belong in the scheme of things. How I wish.

Not necessarily, as several Nigerians study abroad and actually return...
Nonetheless, even if we lose them physically they can still contribute to Nigeria from wherever they may domiciled. Congrats to both!
