It's obvious that this OP is not speaking from experience.

How do you feed with 5k a week? I spend average of 1k to 1k5 on feeding every day. In a week, that's more than 7k.

I have noticed that I rarely watch TV. So, instead of subscribing dstv compact, I just subscribe access or family. After all, the only thing I watch on TV is news. It saves me some money.

I used to spend up to 15k monthly on data, but I the past two months, I have been spending 4k on data, all thanks to airtel Double data for 4g Sims.

The truth is that inflation is so high in Nigeria. Many times, I Pitt low income earners and married men in this country. It is not easy. Even as a single guy living a frugal lifestyle, I am still feeling the heat.

Hi

Many salary earners have actually spent their salary before receiving it, like ill jokingly say my eyes have spent my salary

We will be looking at stuffs that take your salary, we will be using the singles as we know most married people have extra stuffs added to their expenditure monthly example children school fees, diapers ,baby food etc

we will be using the salary scale of ₦ 70,000

Power Bills: Depends on what you use prepaid or direct bills, you still pay a lot. the average cost of power bills in Nigeria is ₦5,000 monthly note after paying maybe ₦1000 you still pay one hidden maintenance fee somewhere, you wont see this until you check your receipt. if you are using direct light be expecting nothing less than ₦7,000 monthly from the power companies

Lawma(Trash Management): Waste management is serious business especially in Lagos, do you know if you don’t pay you waste bills you can be prosecuted in Lagos or the gate of your house locked up, in my house that consists of 6 flats we pay ₦ 6000 monthly for waste management, that’s ₦ 1,000 naira per flat depending on your location.

Security Bills(Olode): This one is now a compulsory thing in Lagos and some part of western Nigeria, some group of young youths would come together and form a group , become a vigilante and start charging each street at least
₦ 1,000 per month note this is per flat too.

Transportation: Whether you are using a car or a bus, you would still pay for transportation. it cost an average lagosian ₦ 1500 daily to move to and fro around lagos to work.

Food: Should i say food is a curse because of the cost, lagosians spend an average ₦5000 per week for a person, this is because most lagosians are working class and dont have time to eat at home. so they end up buying food, Food Stuff should go for ₦ 15000 per month for a single person if the person chooses not to eat outside or minimize it.

Cable Subscription: The lowest Dstv or gotv sub goes for ₦ 2500 monthly , NOTE: Some people would still go out and spend ₦ 100 to watch football at viewing centers.

Recharge Card/Data: According to the NBS , Nigerians spend more on recharge card than food, in an average we recharge ₦ 5000 monthly on call cards and data

Notable Mentions

Partying: Cloths,shoes and drinks

Family Members which include parents, girl friends etc

Alumni associations

Emergency Health Conditions

Professional Exam fees etc

Police Fee (For those that like trouble making)

If you look at this over 75% of your salary is gone remember you still need to save for yearly rent and house maintenance.. why not save cost and share that empty room with people working near and save yourself some financial stress follow this link to get started

Feel free to add what takes your salary monthly

Adding olosho.

To achieve financial independence, Parkinson's Law needs to be violated. And you must find a way to earn more as man, cos the expenses keeps going up as we grow up.

My exact take is , you must improve on yourself and your capacity to earn more, hence you will look 70 wen you are just 50. You can not violate parkison, if you dont earn more and invest the difference in a side business that will atleast take care of the yearly rent and also life some burden off your shoulder as a man.

You won't believe. Girl told me she wasn't working but suggested I take her to country style. That means a budget of 5k about to burnt perhaps with nothing to show for it. Am still reasoning the matter.

I used to spend heavily on fuel for generator but I have stopped it. So, this is what I do now:

Nepa has a kind of timetable they use in my area. So, they bring light in the morning around 10am or 11am or sometimes 12pm, then they take it around 3pm, 4pm or 5pm. It depends on when they brought it.

For night time, they bring it again around 7pm or 8pm and leave it till around 4 or 5am the next day.

So, what I do is that after studying their routine, I now flow with it.

My laptops battery can last up to 4 hours to 6 hours depending on what I'm doing. So, I start working with my laptop in the morning hours until they bring light, then I plug it. Before they take the light in the evening, I take some rest. Then continue again in the night when they restore the light.

bro pls i need more info on the double data for airtel 4g whats the code for the subscription

There is no special code. Just buy a new airtel 4g Sim. Make sure you tell the vendor that it is a 4g Sim you are looking for.

With the 4g Sim, just subscribe to any data bundle that is below ₦5k and you will get double of your data. This will continue for the next three months. You could decide to buy another Sim after the three months, that's if the promo is still going on by then. Lol.
