I want to buy the Acura MDX 2007 edition from Canada. Any views as to the pros and cons of this suv? Plus what is your overall view about the car in terms of reliability, fuel economy, maintenance-ease of repair and availability of mechanics. Many thanks. |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by weyreypey: 2:00pm On Mar 10, 2019 |
survivex:Rugged. Only issue is fuel economy |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by radautoworks: 2:06pm On Mar 10, 2019 |
survivex:Avoid cars from snowy regions. Road salt causes rust. |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by survivex: 2:07pm On Mar 10, 2019 |
weyreypey:Many thanks. On the fuel, i understand that its a 3.7L engine so it can't be compared to those lower. If I get up to 15L/100km in city and less on the highway I am fine. |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by survivex: 2:09pm On Mar 10, 2019 |
radautoworks:Please explain a little more. You mean it salty over there hence corrosion should be higher or you mean it will get worse here in Naija?? |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by radautoworks: 2:30pm On Mar 10, 2019 |
survivex:Car would most likely come with corrosion. |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by HeavenlyBang(op): 2:37pm On Mar 10, 2019 |
survivex:Highway fuel economy is better than City. You're more likely to get 12mpg city from that car, tbh. That's about 20L/100km. radautoworks:Seconded, but it all depends. Some cars are built with anti-rust materials. Not sure about that MY MDX though. OP should take a close look at the car first before buying imo. |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by weyreypey: 2:51pm On Mar 10, 2019 |
survivex:You will get about 11-12 mpg city driving due to our fuel quality in Nigeria. Remember the car requires premium fuel to get 15mpg city.... Then expect 15mpg highway driving. |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by Nobody: 3:25pm On Mar 10, 2019 |
weyreypey:The first part is correct but the bolded is not true. He should achieve 20mpg on the highway. When I drive very gently, no hard acceleration, I get 25-26mpg on the highway but when I do >100 mph with a lot of hard acceleration, then I get between 17-19mpg |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by weyreypey: 3:57pm On Mar 10, 2019 |
rationalmind:The stated highway MPG is 20mpg. Where did you get 26-26 MPG? |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by HeavenlyBang(op): 3:59pm On Mar 10, 2019 |
weyreypey:EPA ratings aren't always definite. |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by weyreypey: 4:00pm On Mar 10, 2019 |
HeavenlyBang:Can you explain more? I'd expect worse given our petrol quality! |
| Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by Nobody: 4:02pm On Mar 10, 2019 |
weyreypey:Mine is a TL with stated 26mpg which I achieve with regular gas on the highway. Those who use premium fuel get as much as 30mpg on the highway. I know he can achieve his stated 20mpg on the highway even with regular fuel. |
