We should look for a way to never allow these criminals escape justice irrespective of party affiliation.

If we stop politics of sentiment, yes.

There's no reason why I should hate you just because of what you chose to believe in. I mean, if you believe a pile of stones is your god, how does that affect me?

But if you're a rotten person and I voted for you, then that's on me.

Unfortunately, the youth are doing the most damage to Nigeria. They're brainwashed to see enemies everywhere, they snatch ballots, riot, do jungle justice...meanwhile the fat cats feed fatter.

Nairaland is a clear example of how bad things are: igbos insult yoruba and hausa, hausa insult igbo and christians, yoruba insult igbo and hausa.....

And no where is religious hatred more propagated than in the northcentral.

It's a crying shame.

Exactly, he should call a meeting of religious leaders across the divide and assure them of fairness and equity. The message will in turn be carried to their followers in the grassroots. Subsequently he should follow through with equitable distribution of appointments and infrastructural development across board. He should endeavour by all means to leave behind a legacy of peaceful coexistence in kaduna before the end of his second tenure.
I pray so

I think it's not ever going to be easy to pin the blames. Both sides play politics of religion, and they'll always do.

I'm a fulani muslim, but even I have misgivings with the choices of El Rufai. Now, I know a great deal of southern kaduna christians hate muslims mostly because the hate is mutual and largely because of a feeling of isolation. But a leader is supposed to rise above such petty sentiments and be a leader to all. No one in the history of kaduna has shown such blatant prejudice to faith than El Rufai.

It's his right to pick his vice, but politics is all about compromise; what's the harm if his deputy was a christian to appease the SOKAPU people so they feel some sense of belonging? How would that diminish his capacity to lead, given deputies are always just necessary baggage who really do nothing?

Also Rufai's utterances are quite unbecoming. The man has no business being in politics given his proclivity for saying things that worsen situations. No one in kaduna, muslim or christian, is happy with crises, because in conflagrations all lose.

Of course, the christian community is also not helping, given the pronouncements of some of their pastors recently. They say provocative things and make enemies of every single muslim, thereby exacerbating the divide.

Every single institution that ordinarily should imbue sanity in the society has failed: the politicians, the clergy, the legislature, the judiciary, the academics, parents, the youths..everyone has failed....

so who do you really blame?

We as Kaduna Indigen we know it was CAN that caused all this. because they were opposing Elrufai openly, thats why even pdp supporters who are muslims opted to voted Elrufai. and it is now official Election can be won without the support of southern Kaduna. what people dont knw is APC deputy governor Malama Hadiza Balarabe is nt Hausa but one tribe from sanga local government of southern Kaduna.

You're not helping

We shouldn't choose leaders to spite our perceived enemies, we should choose leaders to better our lot.

I had no problem when Yakowa was governor. No one tried to stop me from being a muslim, or conducting my legitimate business.

We should not fall into the bottomless trap of cutting our noses to spite our face.

If the christians of southern Kaduna chose to play the politics of sentiments, it doesn't mean we have to go that route. The PDP contestant is a muslim, but he was demonized and dehumanized as the candidate of CAN. And truth be told, just as pastors were commanding their followers to vote PDP as a religious duty, imams were admonishing muslims to vote APC as a sort of micro jihad.

The idea is to discard elections of religious sentiments -- a tall order, I know -- for the good of all.

It doesnt help if as a muslim I'm afraid of driving past Kachia and Kajuru, and a christian is afraid of going to Rigasa to board a train.

Who wins in that scenario?

With all these deaths you think the best thing to do is reelect El Rufai to spite CAN? The chief security officer of the state is failing and the Muslims are concerned about CAN! They are doing themselves!
APCsupporter:

See, i am not trying to accuse christianity in any way. the few pastors i know have been preaching unity but CAN is a dofferent case. Have JNI ever come out to defend killings of Christians? NO. But CAN will be calling attacks on muslims "reprisal attacks" or saying the attack never happened. Just yesterday, another 17 muslims were killed in Kajuru. just observe what they will say about it

You're a rare gem. May whatever you serve bless you. I wish El Rufai will see this post of yours and act accordingly.

El Rufai is an excellent administrator but a terrible politician. He should do better. He did more than Buhari to turn folks against APC, not just in kaduna but all over the country. If he's thinking of VP and possibly president, then he needs to improve in inter faith and inter ethnic relations

All the states pdp is winning are declared inconclusive...Kano...Bauchi...Adamawa

Osun loading

is Abia, Enugu, Oyo, Ebonyi declared inconclusive as well?

i dont know why it must be about PDP. In Enugu, PDP got almost 500K to just 10K of APC and nobody cried fowl. In Benue state, most of the polling units in the PDP governor's LGA has zero vote for APC not minding whether the APC agent voted or not and everyone kept quiet. i hate this type of politics that is so skewed and with biased mentality.

Election held in Plateau and the APC leading by about 40K vote and was declared inconclusive as well. Why couldn't you see that.

Have you asked why elections are declared inconlusive?

For plateau state for example, about 49K votes were cancelled and the leader APC is leading with 44K votes which is less than the cancelled votes. For this reason, it cant be concluded untill the cancelled votes are less than the winning difference. get it and stop complaining.
