In case you're thinking of relocating from Nigeria to Foreign country, as a Nigerian i want you to consider the following points of view before taking any steps.

Though, am not discouraging you from achieving your dream but I'd like to share you some reasonable point which is very crucial to your well-being. But before i dash into the main point let me quickly share you some experience.
I was with my lecturer one day, he told me there's a time he was hired as a visiting lecturer in USA.

As he was about going back from lecture hall to his room at the hotel he lodged to, someone came across his way and greeted him very well. In appearance he dress like a road scrubber but he is a Nigerian, the person told him he's one of his students then in university of Ilorin.

Without wasting time the lecturer asked him never to greet him again. Saying "you're a type that useless Nigerian certificate in foreign country, it is better for to work as conductor serving your country than serving eyinbo"
In your own view what did you think about the short story, the professor feel him self?
Quietly No, he's just trying to encourage the young man to always value the resources God gave him (Certificate)

Imagine, have you ever see oyinbo people doing this type of job in Nigeria. This is so ridiculous..

So now I'm going to give full details on the aforementioned point above; why Nigeria is a better place to live than foreign country

If you have a billionaire mind-set, please don't travel. It's easier to "blow" here. There it's just an average life.

You guys should stop opening useless threads. The TAX your grand father paid have you benefited from it in terms of roads and electricity? Tell me why you should pay TAX in Nigeria when you don't have common electricity nor good motorable roads. Nigeria is not working, so all these things you listed does not apply to NIgeria, because this country is a failed country.

Hadampson:
Tax Levy differences

There is heavy taxation in foreign country compares to Nigeria. It is not easy for a common person to accumulate wealth. The more richer you become, the more tax you pay. That's why you see all this footballers running from one team to another.

Its a must for you to pay tax if you relocate to US, even its a big offense for you to owe tax. They may jail you for not paying tax but in Nigeria, tax levy has limit

Because Nigeria is a lawless country where anyone can come and do anyhow and go free.

Just give police small money.

Even though I used to share the view of Nigeria being a better place. I have come to the conclusion that it is better on the other side.

The merits over there outweigh the benefit you enjoy here. Even with our favorable climate and other lesser included benefits.

Just to highlight one-factor Health facility/value of life. It beats any benefit enjoyable in Nigeria.

The reason why people like the OP are posting that garbage is because they are lawless in nature. If given a chance to live in societies where there is law and order, they cannot function.

Classic case of calling good evil and evil good. If you actually do believe this, there's something fundamentally wrong with the way you see the world and interact with it.

Immigration law

A lot of people don't really know what immigration law really is in foreign country.
It is a must for you to have correct immigration documents, if you don't have it you're not safe. And once they detect your documents are not valid they will depot you instantly. While in Nigeria this law is not very strict. Even alot of Foreigners sneaked in to Nigeria illegally and they still move around without them gotten arrested/harassed.

How is having insecure immigration policy and lackadaisical law enforcement good. You do realise this is partly why you have rampant illegal mining, smuggling, bandits etc all over place. Why should you praise lazy policing.

Nigerians are always myopic, so you expect a foreigner to come to Naija to earn 18k as minimum wage , no welfare package , no light , no good roads.

Nigerians can deceive themselves. No wonder Nigeria is such a poor country that people don't see because most people don't read.

Nigeria nominal GDP per person is less less than 2500 dollars with basically no social insfrastructure to improve life.

If we don't know , we pay taxed in indirect way. To have have a 12 hours of electricity in a two bedroom flats you need 2k naira petrol , you buy 3.5 kvA generator, nepa bills , no good transport system, no medical insurance , family and friends will be on you if you are earn in 150k salary because you are lucky to find one.

You see folks working a decent jobs 150k a month, you can afford to buy a good Camry 2004 after three years and you call this a country .

Make I leave the story.

God bless you brother, You just shared my thought.

I prefer to live there and pay tax, than to be free in this hell hole.

Let me try

in Nigeria

-more secure extended family networks
-less emasculation of the male child- though we overdo it sometimes
-cheap (if wages were not stagnating at the rate at which they are) and organic food
-almost no chance of a child being affected by gay/transgender agenda except for anomalies like bobrisky
-lower incidences of mental illness- resilience and a generally positive outlook on life

What i notice is that upper-middle class elites usually combine the 2- that is to live and bring children up in nigeria (thus retaining the traditional aspect of family life, being free from racism, retaining culture) and travelling for the holidays (letting everyone cool off and have fun abroad, have different experiences, bla bla). A good example of this is the much-maligned Yusuf Buhari. He came back to reap the benefits of being (an albeit, very privileged) nigerian. If its 100% bad, what is he doing here? In some other countries which are even worse, even the head of states child runs for his or her life

people who travel abroad to stay and live there tend to be solid/technical middle classes who are being short-changed by the government/cheated of the normal existences they are supposed to have (teachers, academics, nurses, doctors) and who leave out of desperation. I remember reading somewhere that a sign of a stable democracy is a thriving middle class

Nigeria rocks increasingly between 2 extremes: people barely eating even once a day and people with gigantic houses, 4 or 5 cars and the res

Remember in those days, Nigerians would only travel abroad for their studies and maybe work for a while. Then they would come straight back. It was the ensuing economic chaos of the 1980s (or 90s? somebody correct me) that widened the gap in quality of life between the west and the east and that sent our middle class packing in droves

Its better to flit in between the two, rather than stay put in either one
