There many ways you can achieve that, but let me give you a simple and easy method.


1. Type Y with a very bold or heavy font,
2. Increase the font size, then make it at least 60% transparent [you can lock de Y if you want]
3. Pick a pen tool and trace the Y accurately
4. Fill your desired color and you're good to go.


You can also do it with gridlines, but I think the above is the easiest.
