Nigerians are always myopic, so you expect a foreigner to come to Naija to earn 18k as minimum wage , no welfare package , no light , no good roads.

Nigerians can deceive themselves. No wonder Nigeria is such a poor country that people don't see because most people don't read.

Nigeria nominal GDP per person is less less than 2500 dollars with basically no social insfrastructure to improve life.

If we don't know , we pay taxed in indirect way. To have have a 12 hours of electricity in a two bedroom flats you need 2k naira petrol , you buy 3.5 kvA generator, nepa bills , no good transport system, no medical insurance , family and friends will be on you if you are earn in 150k salary because you are lucky to find one.

You see folks working a decent jobs 150k a month, you can afford to buy a good Camry 2004 after three years and you call this a country .

Make I leave the story.
I concur, and I must add children's school fees which take a big chunk of your salary because the government can't provide decent education. Water is non existent, internet broadband is not available. No need for generator because power is guaranteed. If i want to save on more fuel I buy hybrid or full electric car.

I don't think Nigeria has a middle class: i.e a middle class in the strict meaning of the word. Most of the people in that range here are just people one less paycheck away from poverty. In my opinion.

Then it's safe to say Nigeria favors the "middle class" and the "rich" only....

Nigeria will always be my favourite home country. smiley

If you are desperate to travel out to any country of your choice, please take time and effort to do your research thoroughly. Many of us especially the youths fall victim in the hands of these scammers called travel agencies. Some of these agencies are running their businesses illegally and now they still exist.

People who are wolves covered with sheep clothings and pretending to be nice to you just to get their evil deeds done are everywhere. These people could be our closed friends, relations. We have to be more sensitive and extremely careful.

We are all striving to survive to actualize our dreams but we must be sure of any decision we take in life.

Patience, hard working, determination and prayer are the strongest tools we need to achieve anything in this world in the right way . May God help us all.

In case you're thinking of relocating from Nigeria to Foreign country, as a Nigerian i want you to consider the following points of view before taking any steps.

Though, am not discouraging you from achieving your dream but I'd like to share you some reasonable point which is very crucial to your well-being. But before i dash into the main point let me quickly share you some experience.
I was with my lecturer one day, he told me there's a time he was hired as a visiting lecturer in USA.

As he was about going back from lecture hall to his room at the hotel he lodged to, someone came across his way and greeted him very well. In appearance he dress like a road scrubber but he is a Nigerian, the person told him he's one of his students then in university of Ilorin.

Without wasting time the lecturer asked him never to greet him again. Saying "you're a type that useless Nigerian certificate in foreign country, it is better for to work as conductor serving your country than serving eyinbo"
In your own view what did you think about the short story, the professor feel him self?
Quietly No, he's just trying to encourage the young man to always value the resources God gave him (Certificate)

Imagine, have you ever see oyinbo people doing this type of job in Nigeria. This is so ridiculous..

So now I'm going to give full details on the aforementioned point above; why Nigeria is a better place to live than foreign country

Racial Discrimination

Here, what we meant by racial discrimination is just that most of the foreign countries there are always a differentiation between the black and the White people (Nigerian and foreigners) and they give priority most to their white people.
You can never see why a Nigerian will be their Director general or even heading the uniform officers. While sort of things are not happening in Nigeria once you have citizen certificate and you're qualify for the post you would be given/select. But eyinbo people always consider their children for a professional job than giving it out to a Nigerian, so you rarely secure a good professional job in foreign country except for maid, servant and domestic workers.

Oga stop talking rubbish. In foreign countries leadership of positions is by merit. For fucksake Barack Obama was America's president.

Ever heard of Chuka Umunna. Biko shut up.

Have you mentioned tribalism in Nigeria? The fact that ibos can't vote without fear in Lagos?

I prefer to pay tax and enjoy good life, constant light, free health care, free education for my kids. unlike not paying tax and much on fueling my generator, paying much for education, can't access good health, and so many other things.
God bless you for this. I would gladly pay 99% as tax in an obvious workable system. Than pay just .01% as tax in Nigeria, where the money ends in personal pockets. Imagine all the useless points he stated. He should be deported for stating those nonsense if he ever travels.

Nigeria is a third world country and is not at par with the developed world.
With money, you can overcome some of these issues to an extent. Some parts of Nigeria has almost 24/7 supply of electricity like Makurdi, Jos, Lokoja (33 kva line)
Health is only poor if you have life threatening diseases and issue of security is low in some cities outside Lagos. The major danger in security is on the highways and those farming in rural areas. If you live in Abuja city centre for example, how is security a threat?

If I were still in my 20s, I would have fled this country long ago. sad

So South Africa is Second World country?
The health system is poor because you find it difficult to see doctors to diagnose ailments. Security is poor because I can't close my eyes to sleep well always on alert on daily basis. Many Third World has less security challenge than ours. My business is almost dying because of incessant power cut or am not entitle to improved power supply like my counterparts in those cuties mentioned. Neighbouring countries are mocking us because of epileptic power.

There is much racial discrimination in Nigeria, only civil servants will understand, especially if you are doing a state job in a State that you are not an indigene, the tribal discrimination is much, you might end up not occupying certain positions because of tribal difference.
Seeking for employment in a State in Nigeria that you are not anymore indigent is difficult.

My racism is everywhere

Tribal discrimination is different from racial discrimination. Nigeria is made up of people from a single race, it's a misnomer to suggest that there is racial discrimination amongst Nigerian tribal groups.
