Am by no means a guru, but have you tried a hard reset? Power on volume down to reset from fastboot mode.. I have an old Xiaomi Redmi 4A sitting in my cupboard, same thing happened to it, though it was gradual, mine came with a useless vendor ROM from geekbuying .This was back in 2016 I think phone was barely four months old..

Ifedith delivered my redmi note 7 yesterday. Also helped with setup and few installations.. Not forgetting thee freebie that came with it at the best price . Good man I must say.
