Hi friends, as you already know, ich bin hadampson, der deutsche Mann smiley

Today, i want to tell you about the above mentioned topic. I have seen alot of debates where some argue that Germany is better than Canada and some agree Canada is better. Instead of that, let us look at these countries and see what is different and also, what is the same cool

Both Germany and Canada have raised up in the world to give as much freedom to its citizens and to the potential immigrants as they possibly can.

So, we are going to look at what both are, what they stand for and what they do for themselves and the rest of the world wink

Viel Spaß smiley

Germany might be a country that is not as BIG as Canada but doesn't really need to be, not really because the country has a landsize of 348,560 square kilometer with a population of 82,400,360 people ranking 19th in the world cool and when it comes to this population, they have approximately 237 people per square kilometer smiley

Canada on the other hand, is HUGE, OMG it has the second largest landsize in the world shocked for a country coming in with a landsize of 9,093,510 square kilometer with a population of 37,193,005. It is actually ranked 38th in the world when it comes to population and for its density of population, it is very small with 4 people per square kilometer

I love Germany, but most people prefer Canada because they speak English and French, the two European dominant languages in Africa.

Although German is quite close to English and Germany makes provision for language learning for immigrants, staying in Canada is like staying in the US but lesser laws.

Don't be decieved by size, most parts of Canada are either sparsely or unhabitable, that's why its are not that populated. Climate conditions are favourable in the European power than Canada.

Ich Liebe Deutschland (I love Germany), but I think Canada is good for starters

Now, let us look at the GDP of these countries, how much do these countries make

Germany ranked 4th in the world with a total of $4.029 trillion with per capital of $48,669 (nominal) ranking 17th in the world cool

Canada however has $1,820 trillion GDP ranking 10th in the world and its nominal GDP per capital which is $48,601 which ranks 16th in the world shocked

Seriously, i don't know how Canada would actually beat Germany, doesn't make alot of sense to me BUT that is what i found

Now, when it comes to GDP, the money comes from many different things from jobs to imports and exports

However, just having GDP and population doesn't really give a gram scheme of the differences between these two countries.. We should probably look at the living cost and expenses.

According to some websites, if you move to Germany from Canada, the cost in Canada for living would be as follows

Food = 11% higher than the person in Germany. As for rent price in Canada are 6.46% higher than in Germany, entertainment is about 16% and transportation is about 8% lower than in Germany and when it comes to price of clothes, it's about 19% lower in Canada.

However, that being said personal care in Canada is 25% more than in Germany. But if you want to buy house, it's quite cheaper in Canada.

In certain areas of a country, there are several cities that are more expensive to live. In Canada, the cities are Toronto, Ottawa, Mississauga, Vancouver and Calgary just to mention a few and in Germany, the top 5 most expensive place to live are Berlin, Munich, düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Cologne and Hamburg smiley

Germany, economic powerhouse of Europe. Well both countries have their pros and cons. for example, Germany doesn't allow dual citizenship whereby Canada allows that and also you can easily get your PR in Canada compared to Germany.

But I still pick Germany.

Hadampson and Germany is just like Mr Bean and his Teddy bear. Unconditional love grin grin grin

Modified: Germany allows dual citizenship on certain circumstances. One of such is if it’s difficult to renounce your old citizenship, eg Nigeria

In terms of healthcare, Canada is considered a socialist system in which the money for the healthcare is gained from tax from its citizens. Now Germany works a little bit differently because it has what we can call sickness fund. They are basically a form of health insurance but for people who make less than €50,000 a year, they are put into public healthcare system. Well, everyone pays through a joint employer and employee system and when it comes to the budget of these countries, Germany spends 11.3% of its GDP on its healthcare and Canada spend 10.3% of its GDP.

However, the life expectancy of a Canadian is approximately 83.8 years while life expectancy of a German citizen is roughly 83.1 years

Not all of the land mass in Canada is liveable though. Lots of frozen tundra and inhabitable mountains and hills. Also lots of huge farm lands in the prairie region.
However there is still lots of space.

I have never lived in Germany, so i can't compare the two countries. The closest i have gotten to Germany was a friend called Katja when I was studying in the UK always telling me how backward the UK was in terms of technology. I felt the same way when I moved to Canada. I felt Canada was backward in technology compared to the UK. I am used to the way things work in Canada now lol.

But the pay and remuneration for my profession and that of my wife is better in western Canada than that of UK by miles. You can also live in huge houses and drive nice toys on wide roads. I believe Gernmany would be very similar to UK in terms of building and road designs.

I love Canada, but the cold meh.

Now let's talk about education but to give you guys an idea about how they spend the money, am going to use US dollars in order for you guys to see how much they spend on a single student.

In terms of education, according to OECD, Germany spends $8,546 per student on education but Canada spend $9,256 per student.

They have some similarities and differences. For example, in Canada, everything from high school and before is considered free education but if you go to university or college, that is paid out of your pocket. However, keep it in mind that there are government grants and of course, sponsorships that one can earn to help produce the amount to pay for tuition fee and unfortunately, when it comes to international students, sometimes, they pay more than a student that is within the country.

Now, going across to Germany, believe it or not, when it comes to tuition fee, no matter if you are going to high school or university. It's all consider free.

Sorry for the late update.

In Canada, despite the grants and bursaries, the average student debt (from student loans) is $19,364 USD.
However, if one gets a good job, the grad can quickly pay that off in no time depending on priority. Some spread it over years though.

UK is technologically more advanced than Canada. If we were to compare, Germany is better but i don't like that. Both are from different continent and they both have their pros and cons. Main reason why i created this thread purposely to discuss this topic with nairalanders

Thanks boss. your threads have been very educative and revealing.

Canadians are laid back. I do not know if it is because we have the US to the south, and the cold will not even allow for a proper implementation of high tech devices. Anyone coming here from western Europe might be a bit shocked but they will get used to it and the way things work in Canada soon becomes a norm.

Student loan is part of life here. That is why trades are often encouraged in Canada. Trades are almost free and government pays employment insurance (a sort of monthly stipends) when an apprentice is in school for 3 to 4 months in a year. Only challenge might be finding an employer willing to indenture. It's not nice studying a "not so marketable" course at a Uni and ending up with a student debt.

I haven't met a German in Canada yet; however, lots of Canadians have German ancestory. You can tell from their last names. Lots of names starting from Z and Sch. I have worked on teams of greater than 5 people where everyone has a german last name lol.

The 2016 Canadian census put the number of Canadians of German ethnicity at over 3.3 million. That is almost 10% of the population.

Really? I'm guessing 90% or more of their citizens must be undergraduate degree holders.

Does this free education also covers masters programs...and how is it paid with...high taxes on its citizens?
