on the contrary, German educational system is some how discriminatory and tough especially for those coming from Ox/Cambridge grading system. Germany separates children as early as 10years old into Hauptschule, Realschule and Gynamsium. 60% usually fail(Abitur) WAEC.

Most German universities don't give CA. 100% exam. You need 90 to 95% to get 1.0 while Ox/Cambridge system gives you an A with 70%

Despite free education, Germany has the lowest number of graduates among G8 nations, 26% graduates by many statistics. One in every 3 abandons studies between 1 to 2 years in the University

The bottomline is, German educational sytem makes an average student struggling to pass

Although I do admit the educational system is tough, I think it's absolutely worth it. The educational system has a lot of problems, however I wouldn't consider the grading system one.

Besides Abitur isn't WAEC, but A levels.

Probably mayB I'm just being politely dumb grin grin grin. But come to think of it, People fail English in WAEC so how would them ones cope with writing the same level in Germany, to speak is one to read and write is another one cos I got English people who can't read nor write too you know
ah well.. My brother. It comes down to the determination to learn a particular language and culture. I have loved the German language sincebi was little and was watching that German program deutsch watch DW and a host of other german programs. Then i have something of a British accent and i never enter plane before because of brush strokes, second chance. Faulty Towers, rent a Ghost, robinhood,Dr Who and the rest. Some english guys are convinced i was from Sussex or Buckinghamshire .But its not perfect o.. Its just the love of learning a particular culture.. So my brother u aren't dumb.. You just don't really feel like.

You are right with the grading system, I particularly find it annoying. How can you give someone with 70% grade a 3.0? That is more or less an A.
And I can tell you, as an African, you just have to work hard to earn those grades, since some exams are usually oral. ( if you used to la cream la pour), this is a whole new challenge.

A very huge percentage of those Americans counted in the express entry are children born in America whose parents are applying for PR in Canada.

Don’t have to come to Canada . Never found it attractive. Lived in DC area for four years and made trips to Buffalo a few times but never found a reason to cross over . Americans see Canada the way Nigerians see Niger. Canadians are not as open minded as Americans (met a few of them) and can only imagine what they are like at home . If it was such an attractive place why is the Express entry program only attractive to citizens of third world countries ? Haven’t heard of Europeans and americans take advantage of it in large numbers.
To buttress your point.. there’s a program they are about to start due to reduction in skilled labour in areas like Québec due to the highly cold weather... again this was presented to the third world countries as gold, where you must stay there compulsorily for certain numbers of years. I know of someone looking forward to taking this as an advantage. He’s highly skilled.
When it comes to language, maybe it’s a barrier for older people in their 50s but I don’t see it as a disadvantage for younger generations. Imagine, having the ability to speak three foreign languages, right on your CV, in my view I think it’s a good thing. It’s also proven that learning new language improves your IQ, I’m not sure, but I found German language really easy and fun to learn when compared to French.
Also, everyone knows Canada economy is largely dependent on US and maybe vice versa.. which in my view is really not okay when compared to Germany, president could be very irrational when it comes to “America First” lol. For instance, we’ve heard Trump talk about building the south wall border with Mexican taxes.. how ridiculous? Anyway, in my view, we will be fine. But comparing Germany.. naah, its not close.
I’ll pick Germany any day!

Deutsch!! grin.

9 months if it's an intensive course. I've also seen a case of 6 months. All in all it depends on the person's willingness to learn the language.

I've seen people who've spent decades here but still can't speak the language.
Thank you for this info.. It’s practically possible with the right info and exposure!!

People should go to anywhere they like as long as they can adapt and set their goals. The problem is, most Nigerians aren't ready to learn new languages that is why they will always choose US, Canada, UK and Australia ahead of Germany despite being a developed country.

You people commenting in German language, I hope anti-spam won't ban you.

Lol, except that the language barrier does play a huge role in the adaptation process. It takes time and dedication to learn a new language. That time can be well spent on other matters in Canada.

Although I live in Canada, I do agree with most of Hadampson's points. Except for the ease of integration/friendlier/more welcoming environment in Canada, Germany trumps Canada mostly. It may be easier to settle in Canada initially, but in the long run, someone in Germany is more likely to fare better.

Honestly, it's been a nice thread so far. One needs to just broaden one's horizon and stop living by the stereotypes created by people.

Virtually everyone in my profession is going the plab way probably because of the ease of getting into uk and practicing medicine. I'll just like to know what Europe has to offer for international medical graduates who wish to practice in Europe (with the exception of the plab route).

I have not been well grounded about immigration policies like I use to be back in 2007/08, however UK Docs are well paid and there is loads of overtime to do so if you are young at heart that's music to ur ears, Germany would be good too, but if Im being honest, I would ask that you go to a newer playing field like Canada and Australia.

Thanks for your opinion.. I'm seriously considering Australia and Canada but UK seems to be the easier route. I'm still in my mid 20s btw

In Germany, it is unlikely, if not impossible to practice medicine, if you are not trained here. There is nothing like plab or some kind of certifications for foreign-trained doctors.
The best you can get here is public health(Msc), or learn the language and apply to be a nurse. So far I have only seen and met one African (Nigerian), Doctor. He studied it here and speaks flawless German.

My 2cents, Medince in Germany is an elite profession, with a series of complicated bureaucratic process.

This seems quite untrue. However, as a medical doctor Australia should be the best shot. They are many Indians and Arabs who were trained in their respective countries and practicing in Germany. A little google search will clear your doubts

Since you have made adequate research and have your proofs and facts. The best you should have done is to rebut my perceived false information with your facts.

I still stand by my opinion, it is easy for a camel to pass through an eye of a needle than practicing medicine in Germany as an African trained Doctor.

https://www.praktischarzt.de/arzt/international-doctors-medical-students/

https://www.praktischarzt.de/blog/gastarzt/

Read up the link above and compare the requirements with other countries like the US and UK, or even Australia.
However, to every rule, there is an exception. If you happen to be the best in your field, a specialist and your specialization area is in high demand, you get to an offer to practice.

My opinion is based on first hand experience. I have met indians as nurses and Lab technicians, but have never come across an Indian as Hausartzt or Hauptartzt. I won't translate those terms because they sound ridiculous in English.

I guess I'd go with Canada. I know English. I've been to the US, so it seems closer to me. But you can compare those two countries by reading about them here.
What do I like about Canada? It's nature for sure. I like that it is close to States. I like people.
Germany to me is a cold country. But I've never been there. Those are just impressions of my friends who traveled there.
