I am lucky to be alive today as I have had two near death experience with quack nurses. One was similar to the OP experience. She didn't get the vein and before I knew it, my eyes went dark and I fell to the floor. Guess what d nurse did! She locked the door and was using cloth to blow me. Thank God my girlfriend ( now ex) had bought lucozade boost on our way to the clinic. She quickly shook the drink in my mouth and later became conscious.
The so called auxiliary nurses needs more training before they can be allowed to perform clinical procedures without supervision.

As you diabetic?

In a standard government hospital, nurses are not allowed to administer drugs intravenously.

The level of ignorance on Nairaland is amazing. Someone comes to make unfounded allegations and everyone starts forming solidarity.
Doesn't the fact that there was blood mixed with the injection in the syringe prove that the needle was actually in the right place, the vein? The doctor may have simply come to take over because of the patient's drama, not necessarily that the nurse was doing the wrong thing. And no matter how common a drug is, even paracetamol, anyone can react to it by feeling dizzy and weak. Doesn't mean that the medical team is quack!
Had It Been It Was In The Right Place, His Hand Wouldn't Have Gotten Swollen To The Extent Of Experiencing Pain For A Couple Of Days. For Blood To Come Out She Actually Got The Vein But Maybe The Vein Got Tissued And She Still Tried Forcing It In.

Thanks. I believe every profession has regulatory bodies. So I visited the nursing regulatory body website. My aim was to intimate them on the incident but their contact was dead. For a field that has to do with human life, I would have thought it would be available 24/7 just like abroad where things function.

I wanted them to investigate the hospital to ascertain if those 'nurses' were supposed to be there in the first place and if they were supposed to be giving injections knowing they are trainee nurses I.e if they were on IT or something of sorts.

NB: I am not entirely without blame though because there were some red flags which I was supposed to have acted on.
First of all I would think that a hospital that was into midwifery and obstetrics was not supposed to practice general medicine. I may be wrong though just my thoughts and there were young girls of 18-27 years working there. You would really think they were doing fashion parade the way they were walking up and down.
What those useless doctors do is to open killing center called hospital, recruit school cert dropouts and teach them how to kill, then after some months call them auxilliary nurses. Run aeay from private hospitals if you value your life. not everyone on white is a nurse. You must have graduated from an accreditted nursing school or university and passed the nursing council exam before you call yourself a registered nurse. Those useless doctors do not wanna pay the registered nurses, hence why the train young girls and some stupid boys.

COME TO OGUN STATE AND SEE WHERE MORE THAN 80% OF THEIR NURSES THERE ARE LABEKE AND PEJU WHO CAN NOT TAKE DOWN A PATIENCE NAME, AND WHO HAVE JUST FINISHED SECONDARY SCHOOL OR DROPPED OUT OF SECONDARY SCHOOL AND ARE LEARNING NURSING APPRENTICESHIP. IT IS ONLY IN THE WEST I SEE THAT SOME ONE CAN ACTUALLY LEARN NURSING PROFESSION EVEN WITHOUT SSCE RESULT AS IF ONE IS LEARNING TAILORING.

Seriously I still wish I hadn't gone. I would have been managing my condition at home instead of adding more problems to it.

No wonder our leaders jet out anytime they need medical attention.

It seems you are in the medical field. Please should I visit a government hospital on this issue. I am quite confused as my faith in Nigerian health care system has diminished.

All you said was the truth. How can someone in pains be typing trash here, and the gullible fickles believed him.

No tangible evidence to backup the stupid story/lies.

OP, now that your lies made FP, hope you're no longer in pains? undecided

May what happened to me that day happen to you and your family members. Oya say Amen since am lying. Was the injection given in my fingers, don't you know where they give intravenous injection?

Sorry about it. Hope you feel better soon

Yes, where health (life and death) is concerned, everybody will show their true colours. Nobody can use politics to form, or do "patronise made in Nigeria products", patriotism and all the rest. After all, who wants to die?

So politicians and people who have options would definitely jet out, not minding how bad it looks, in order to save their skin

Sad! sad

Any nurse or doctor that wants to administer drugs intravenously to you. Say NO. If they insist, use anything that can reach you and break their skull. Its self defence. Its that serious.

Visiting A Government Hospital Won't Really Help, But U Can Still Try And Also Try Visiting Ur State's Ministry Of Health And Ask For An Audience With The Director Of Nursing Services And Narrate Ur Ordeal. Sorry For The Late Reply
