Senator Ben Bruce has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to turn his eyes towards education and not just remain focused on anti-corruption.

The lawmaker representing Bayelsa East Senatorial District in the National Assembly made this assertion via Twitter on Sunday, March 31.

Ben Bruce argued that those who open the doors of schools shut the gates of prisons.

He said, “Dear President @MBuhari, Invest in education, not just in anti-corruption.

“Instead of throwing people in jail, remember that he who opens the doors of a school closes the doors of prisons.

“It is sad that you have built not ONE school. Not even one. Yet you want crime to end?.”

Senator Bruce also spoke on behalf of kids who leave school to get a job and the growing rate of unemployment in the country.

Benbruce trying too hard to sound smart but still fails. What is the point in building more schools when the school goers believe the corrupt system is rigged against them and studying won't amount to anything. What Nigeria badly needs at this point is a 're-education of the mind' which the president is slowly but gradually doing with his several policies, anti-corruption stance and infrastructural projects across the country.

Nigeria already shuns more graduates than her job market can handle annually. If there is anything that is needed more at this time, it's 'vocation training centers' not your good old 'school', Nigeria has more than enough of those!

But I think Ben should know better. The corruption going on in Nigeria Universities, Polytechnics, college of education, school of health is the one drawing back education in this country. I have more than 20 high level corruption going on in almost every institution in Nigeria starting from divertion on research funds to inflation of projects to ghost workers to being a full/permanent staff in more than one institution etc.
That was how Hon. Fijabi of Oyo state built an ICT centre of 120 desktop computer with wooden tables, and inverter with 20 batteries,one 4U rack with 3 switches in a renovated classroom with #300m in 2016 and Ajimobi inaugurated it. A project that originally less than 40m, Shame!

You only invest when you have excess not when the mindset of people is to siphone the little excess.

You only invest in education when you have enough to eat. Hungry man no dey go school

Our income at present cannot feed our population let alone school them and it is from this meager funds that people like Ben Bruce steal and borrow without paying back.

Cut out corruption, increase income, invest more on income generation and feeding the people then the increasing income plus a well fed population can get education.

Education is Enlightenment.
Enlightenment leads to Understanding.

When faithful Nigerian Citizens are living with Enlightenment, and Understanding how detrimental corruption is among the People. When the Citizens are living with the right Orientation, they'll distance themselves from all kinds of corruption, knowing already its consequences in their own lives and others lives.
Why? Because, Corruption have eaten deep in the Nigerian Minds. The honest truth is, majority Nigerians are averagely corrupt.

Moreover, we still pick the next leaders from among the already corrupt Citizens. So, fighting corruption from the top is superficial, with little guarantee Progress or None at all.
