The Chief of Defence Staff doesn't command any troops but coordinate the different arms of the military viz Army, Navy and Air Force in Nigeria through Strategic planning, policy formulation and implementation.

The Chief of Army Staff is the commanding officer of the Army.

The CDS, Gen Gabriel Olanisakin, is more of a ceremonial officer. His influence is less unlike the COAS, Lt. Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai. The CDS is higher in rank than the COAS. However, the COAS coordinates the troops and operations across the Federation.

No Hausa or Fulani man will make a Yoruba man more famous than his own.
