Please no one should try this unless you have your SIM pack with you.
I just tried it and my SIM locked asking me to input PUK.
Within seconds my body was covered with sweat as I remembered the stress people go thru doing court affidavit just to unblock SIM.
Luckily for me after ransacking the whole house I was able to see my SIM pack
I too I tried it, it gave me three attempts to activate sim lock, I have exhausted 2 attempts. Do you have any idea how to activate the sim lock please?

Bro goto your bank. Tell them you need your account statement printed, after printing it. Check how he withdraw your money, am sure he sent it to another account, if the money was transferred to another account my brother there is hope of recovering your money, if can copy his account number of his phone number then report the matter to his bank. From there the bank know how to get back your Money.

how can i passward my sim card

Very simple, go to your phone settings, under security you'll see "Sim card lock" you can set your password there...

Please don't try this if your sim card pack is not with you, because your line will be block first, you'll need your PUK number to unblock it before you set a password

On the first of April 2019, I boarded an intra-city vehicle and dropped at my destination unaware that a guy sitting beside me in the bus had stolen my phone from my pocket. The bus I boarded had picked the guy on the way and he sat next to me. I had no inkling at all that he had the intention of picking my pocket though something told me that this guy's way 'no pure' as he was casting uncanny and surreptitious glances towards my direction, with a weird look on his face. Little did I know he was busy with my pocket.

It was several minutes after I had alighted at my destination that I realised that my smartphone was missing from my pocket. I used a friend's phone to dial my number and found out that the criminal had already switched it off. I resigned to fate knowing fully well that my chances of getting back the phone was slim. I however kept dialling my number till evening, it was still switched off. 6 AM in the morning of 2nd April I dialled my number again and it was ringing but wasn't picked up at the other end. After a few more attempts, the rogue switched off the phone again.

I decided to contact MTN that day to block the line, which they did. However, to my chagrin, when I went to the ATM that same morning to make a withdrawal, I found out the my account balance had changed and that the criminals have succeeded in withdrawing some thousands of Naira from my account. I rushed inside the bank immediately and blocked the account.

What I am still dazed about is how it's possible for criminals to withdraw money from someone's bank account just by getting hold of the sim card. Mind you, my phone can only be accessed via a PIN, so the possibility of them making a transfer using my bank's mobile app is ruled out. So how did they do it?

Has anyone ever been victim of such? Please share so others can learn.

Mods, can you please move to front page so others can learn? Thanks.
Am once a victim, mine was 100k..Did all I could to get d criminal but our police and bank official are just not it.. Nigeria needs total rebranding.. Sorry for your lose.

see bro.. In a sane country it's very possible to nab those criminals but in Nigeria it's a waste of valuable time.
Am once a victim.. I complaint to d bank.. I collected my bank statement and head straight to d police Station n complain abt it.. I parted with some cash inorder for fast response but the police people they tell me the criminal acct doesn't have a passport nor house address.. no he cannot because the network provider will ask u some petinent questions and details about d line even while they can see it on d system. Jus to make sure u are d owner if u get d questions wrong u will be asked to return d fone or line to the owner to call dem for it.

Go to your phone settings under security you'll see SIM card lock, set up your password. you have 3 attempt before your SIM will be block, can only unblock with your PUK before you can set a new password.

Warnings: Don't try it if you've lost your sim pack, because you'll need your PUK number to unblock your sim.

Are you trying to say that my sim must blocked and then unblocked with the PUK before I can set my password?

I think the banks are culpable or at least their staff are. I had this ugly experience too earlier in the year. ATM and phone were in fact on me all day, not stolen or misplaced but money still managed to be withdrawn from my account. I was shocked when I got email notification went to the bank they said the money is still in my account that it hasnt left yet. Filled all the forms they gave after complaining but they still went ahead and to debit my account after 2 days. It's such a a bad experience and until banks are held liable for happenings these ugly incidents will continue.

A similar incident happened to me at Surulere, Lagos in 2017. I forgot my wallet in the car after returning from work at about 9pm. This car was parked in my compound which has a gate and it's all fenced. I only remembered about the wallet at about 10pm when one of my housemates requested for some money so I traced my wallet back to the car. In getting there, the car had been burgled, the contents of my wallet was spilled on my car seat, all my IDs were intact except the cash and my ATM cards.

It didn't even occur to me at that moment to call my banks to blacklist the cards until I started receiving bank alerts from 2 banks (GTB and Diamond). Immediately I called Diamond but the customer care line was ringing and nobody picked until my account was wiped. I called GTB, and their customer care agent blocked the account immediately although half of my balance had gone. While all this was going on, the location of the ATM machine where my money was being withdrawn was not captured in the alert notifications.

Before this incident, I did not share my ATM PIN with anyone but the bank's insisted I must have been careless with my PIN and that's how my account was accessed. When the footage was shown to me, the two men in the picture were unknown to me. (I've never met them before).

Long and short of the gist, I realized that PINs were overrated whether you share them or not. And these banks have no liability for such incidences as described above.

That is a complete no no thing and not to do, as passwords are meant to personal, same way private parts are, you dont give to others, except of course if you are doing the jiggy jiggy unaimean business.

So you accept the profile was adjusted and changed to look bigger and more prominent then, yeah?

Nope it's the other way round. CALL YOUR BANK TO BLOCK YOUR ACCOUNT FIRST then you can block your line.

Most times the banks' customer service lines don't work, especially in the evenings. Calling their lines will be a waste of time cos they won't pick.

So it's best to call your mobile network provider to block the line. At least MTN's customer care line is very functional. If you block the line first then the sim becomes useless to the thief, he won't be able to recharge the line and sell the airtime.

I still don't get it.

They prolly bought airtime from my bank using USSD codes, then transferred the airtime to another line for onward selling.

First thing is to call your banks to block all transactions pending till your replace your stolen sim.

The only problem is that most times the banks' customer service lines don't work.
