First they will ask you the value of the phone and the 'sensibility' in tracking it cos can be high as 30 to 50k depending on how far they have to go...

However let me hint you, the 'good side' is as many that have inserted their sim, even just to test the phone will be picked up no matter their location [so far within Nigeria] and arrested. Then they will refund the money you paid to track,..... U can as well further negotiate a settlement or u insist they be charged to court [rarely will they want that] and if they are still being stubborn...their own don be.

Note- u will need patience.
Can take as short as 2weeks to 6 months, but once u start the process, ur phone will be located [if not destroyed and hopefully still in mint and usable condition it was stolen]

Warning: Be careful to where and how you buy 'used naija phones' If u are offered an expensive phone cheaply, be careful o

from a personal experience, phones can successfully be tracked in Nigeria.

i lost my phone and reported to the CID office in the local govt of my residency. they requested for the phone pack, the receipt of purchase and the phone numbers that were in the phone (not really important) then i paid them 1k immediately. after two days, i received a call that the phone have been found that i have to pay further 7k for the tracking which i did. then the CID office went on to apprehend the culprit.
they asked me how i want the case after giving me several options. i just collected my phone and asked the person to refund my expenses for the tracking.

there are many things that works in Nigeria which we dont know. always try making enquiries

I never trust Nigeria police until I was a victim of a stolen tab, they stole my tab and I paid 2k to the police and it was given back to me after 2weeks
