If the land is not solid enough, expect those walls you introduced on the DPC to tear after settlements
Why? How?

Gurus in the house, I have a question that has been bugging my mind for a while now.
Sirs/mas, if I'm going to do a DPC ( pour concrete on a DPM), why then should I bother myself with all the partitions during the excavation of the foundation? Why not just get the external diameter, and make some partitions and leave the rest? For instance, instead of digging toilet, ante room, parlour dining, kitchen, store, all the rooms, etc. Why not just a selected few out of all those and then, do the full partitioning after the DPC has been done. I hope I'm understood. Thanks.

My advice for you is just, Sir do the all the necessary partitions before DPM, so that you won't blame your self in the nearest future. There is nothing like short cut in building

Gud evening house, sorry for late respond , l am the one of the aluminum roofer in the house,
(1) firstly l understand all what ogas in the house has fire out. The true is that there is no roof measurement are the same but it must not more than 20 to 30 metres. But in a situation where by we seen almost 100 or more than per Squar metres different, there is something wrong somewhere,
(2) I think my client is listening here, is a naira lander too, he ask me to measure his house last two months, l measures the roof, he have call several roofers to measure for him, but he later call me, and explained to me how l gets my measurement, l explained to him, he ask to sign on his documents before started the roof, which I did , which means my own is almost 80 metres different to others that is why is doing that, but thanks god l signed on his documents and finished the roof, without any shortage at all, is naira lander here
(3)so my advice to the client is that they should be vigilante before on a too measurement, I don't think there is big things on how to know the real measurement on a buildings , thanks

Any way, finally we got respond from just one aluminum roofer
All measure should be within 15sq difference no more , no less over 20sq is q lot ( 20 x 2500 =50,000.00)
Watch out people
don't get robbed by aluminum roofer who want to get money over night

Good evening, please which is better - plastering a bathroom wall and making the surface rough before tiling or just applying tiles to the block on the wall directly. What is the downside of tiling directly without plastering.

Thanks.

@mufutau55
I am not putting tiles on the guest bathroom by the living room
The reason for roughing the walls is to make it even
If the block was not even

You have not attempted to answer the question, you've just put the fear of some terrible outcome in his mind.

This is the typical Naija penchant for discouraging enquiring minds. I can imagine how our kids have lost their curiosity and imagination. They grow up with silly mantras such as "Touch not my annointed", etc.

(Apologies to the questioner - I'm not comparing you to a kid!). I'm no civil engineer but let me try - I think because the load bearing columns are normally at the end of the partitions, and these are specified to work in conjunction with the lower foundation horizontal beams or blindings, the partitioning has to mimic this for proper transfer of load.

Perhaps also because it is easier to compact the filling material to a satisfactory level when contained in partitioned off areas rather than a wider area and future settlement is even.

Can someone give me a clue on tiling. I mean how they charge per square metre for floor , bathroom and kitchen.
Type of quality tiles I should request for.

If possible I like to have a clue on average sq meter for 3 bedroom floors, kitchen and bathroom wall.

The roofing measurement cheating still in my mind. hard to forget

Check my page for tiles information

Construction wise, that's not advisable. What you're thinking is called partial walls/walling.
You ought to differentiate between load bearing walls and non load bearing walls to be able to put that through. Depending on your house design wardrobe walls can be done in such way, etc, etc.
Traditionally walls on the DPC(super structure) are supposed to be aligned onto the walls beneath at the foundation level(sub structure). Not doing that may cause your DPC to cave in at such positions once there's soil settlement and it may affect the wall above.

Wow! Now I see the danger in doing that. Alignment is the keyword here. Thanks once again.
