Often times, rent is not by quality or how new the structure is, its usually by location. Most of the houses in Asokoro Federal Housing are old and they are way more expensive than the new ones in Jabi/Lugbe/Gwarimpa/Lokogoma. Location is key

actually you are right

How long will you keep paying for House and property Rent. If your wise and Your money works for you. That's a question you need to ask yourself. Nigeria Rent system is so poor.

It makes me wonder if they really want to rent out their property.

When one can build house in Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Ogun for 60M
What kind of house do u want to build with 60m?
At most 25m should build for u a very good duplex

@darkelf pls read this:

in Nigeria, the prices of things are NOT FAIR! if they were fair, sentiments like ''this is the federal capital'' should not factor in.

that a place is ''federal capital'' doesn't matter to a business man. all he wants is profit, and as far as i am concrened, who ever invested in those houses in the high brow areas in abuja is not making the profit he is suppose to make. this is because alot of them are empty! a business man would not like his property to be empty because he is not making anything while empty.

so he would begin to look at why they are empty in order to see how he can get them occupied. this will drive down the cost of those houses to their actual price. but this is if the person who invested in them is a true business man who invested his HARD EARNED MONEY!

like you and i know they are not actual business men who invested their own money. they are political thieves who just want to have properties in ABUJA, the federal capital. and the money they used are YOURS! so they are not losing anything if those houses remain empty because they never invested their OWN money.

Gbam. Double gbam.

The money is stolen and needs to be laundered. Buying properties is a good way to do so.

Exactly

The op is 60% right on his estimates.

Some Jabi, Apo self contain can be obtained for not more than 350k depending on your luck. Both areas have stable light and water that comes direct from waterboard.

However a self-contain in adamawa with Standby generator(from 7PM -11PM), tiles, and a kitchen, going for just 60K made me realize Abuja is not a place to start your life.

Exactly

i heard Fashola saying something about finding all of the empty houses in Nigeria, knowing where they are, and seeing how they can get people to occupy them.

i hope he comes up with a plan to buy back those houses, and sell to people at the REAL prices, which is about 40% the prices the owners now tell you.

the moral of the lesson is: nothing productive can come from theft. stealing is not productivity, and it never endures! those politicians think that by stealing they are being smart, can now see that they were not smart at all!

true wealth comes from inside out, not outside in. if you want to try it the other way round, you would have to go and still. and the wealth you acquire this way, don't last! because it is only a matter of time, your true self, which is poverty, will become revealed!

My point is that there are other states one needs to consider. I know a guy who started with a small job (wage within 100k range) in one state was able to save and build a house in his home state.
He resigned, got a job in his state and is doing well for himself.
Abuja is over hyped.
