darkelf:And you ignored the part of 2016-2018 abi.... Cherry picking just to stand by weak points. Mikel is still vital to the team and his presence in this squad will give the team a massive boost in games. Live with it okay or just tell us you have a personal problem with Mikel. Mikel Obi is CAPTAIN AND WILL BE NEEDED IN EGPYT. |

Earthquake2:It's too late to try Ebere Eze in that position. If Rohr really wanted the dude, he would have given him a chance earlier. You guys, I want my country to win...I really do but I don't want us to see anybody as indispensable so we don't get disappointed |

profmathsland:You are the second person to say that to me since this argument started. For the record, a big NOOOO. I don't have anything agaisnt one of the most successful African Players of his generation but what I don't want is for us to over-rely on Mikel. He isn't Messi or Ronaldo and cannot carry the weight of a team on his shoulders |

Meliforme:Musa can also function as a LWF. Note I didn't use LW. Left wing forward is kind of forward who attacks from the left but plays closer to the box on the side. Musa will always start for us on the left. In the case of a 3-5-2 or 4-4-2, we can see Musa as a CF. And did you just say Kalu is not as good as the wingers you mentioned? Kalu is the only one who can cross the ball among all the wide players we have. He is also full of tricks, dribbles and can create. How is he not good enough? Tell me please. Henry Onyekuru himself is not a proper winger but a wing forward. He is very adaptable hence his ability to excel on both wings too but he is essentially a wing forward with dare, skills and a keen eye for goals. Kalu ia more of a proper winger than Onyekuru. Moses Simon also is a fine winger/wing forward. He is defensively astute and strong on the ball, sharp in dribbling but needs to do more in terms of his end product and crossing. When on the left, he refers driving in and cutting inside his marker. He is very decent so how is he not good enough? See ehn... Just prepare your mind to see Chukwueze's name missing because he will likely head to poland alongside Jayden Bennetts, Kingsley Michael, and other foreign pros that will beef up our flying Eagles. I would have loved to see Chukwueze heading to Egypt but even if we don't take him to the afcon, i feel we still have enough firepower on the wings to take flight in Egypt. |

darkelf:I remember one statement made a long time ago by thesupernerd on this thread. He said that by Afcon 2019, Mikel will live out his final days in the GWG and bow out off the stage. TheSupernerd insisted that after Nations cup in 2019, we should have no need for Mikel anymore but he foresees a last hurrah for the big man, Mikel in 2019. And I agree with his thoughts. That is exactly what is playing out now. I understand the need for the tean to not over-rely on him but for this tournament, Mikel will be key one last time after which we will need him no more because we have young midfield generals already sprouting up. So i repeat, we need mikel in Egypt. After this, his relevance would have expired. Chikena. P.S: He may not be Messi or Ronaldo but he has at least won us something with his presence in the team. Messi still haven't conquered south america for all his greatness. Mikel doesnt have to be those marvellous duo... He is MIKEL OBI, NIGERIAN AND AFRICAN MIDFIELD LEGEND. A true generalissimo. Kpom. |

darkelf:But we can't get the dude now.... so what do you want us to do... the guy has already featured in a competitive feature for the British under 19 and moreover he is still too young to and too late to get used to africa football... after the nations cup, i expect mikel to resign and rohr can go after this lad... |

Bolowolowo:I am beginning to have a rethink. Chukwueze should be on the plane to AFCON and even start on the RW in every matches because he is currently the best Nigerian winger (RW) in the form of his life in the whole wide world as I write. The Samuel Kalu who is suppose to play on that wing is currently not seeing game time in his club. In fact, he has not made 5 match day squad in their last 6 matches. Are we going to the AFCON with an inform player (Samuel Kalu) who is not only currently warming bench but is not even considered for games? In my humble opinion, if Samuel Kalu doesn't see games until the end of the season, and in addition, doesn't outshines Chukwueze, he should be replaced with Chukwueze direct and not even considered for a place in the squad. We should also look for a player that can deputise for Chukwueze on the RW and I think Peter Olayinka is the best candidate for this. That's after seeing him in a friendly. The fact that his club started him against Chelsea and he still went ahead to distinguished himself above all his team mates shows he deserves to be given a chance. At least this time around he is in form. We saw what Paul Onuacha did when he was given the chance to prove himself. Chukwueze might be our own Mbappe in this tournament. There's need to reward performance of players in other to encourage them to do better. Bringing players not making match day squad over players doing better in a competitive league or tournament is a no no for me. |

profmathsland:Coolu down oga. We know Mikel Obi should or must make the team due to our inexperience mildfielders. Rohr is not blind towards this. |

darkelf:Bros, I didn't it's not yet time to discard Mikel Obi because we don't have better options. Even if Eze comes Mikel Obi should remain. However, I don't think it is too late to invite Eze except you have your reasons for that. Can you please tell me? |

Anyone can err. But there is no record that he was unjust to a deserving player. Iheanacho was clearly one of our worst players on that day versus Brazil. When Simon had his chance in the last group game, did he show he was head and shoulders above the rest? Modified The so called next Nigerian Ronaldo, Theo Solomon that they said Manu didn’t give a chance, what has become of him in Europe over all these years? Manu Garba is the best U17 coach so far, and as long as he keeps on unearthing talents, he should remain. forgiveness: |
