jihday:One is in Oxford but there are is only one slot remaining. The one in Oxford is privileged to have high quality training but if the one in Nigeria gets the chance to go to the educational camp he will excel. Fact is the one in Oxford does not need the quiz to make it. The kid in Nigeria needs it. For every foreign born we take, we deny a Nigerian kid a huge opportunity to better his life. Be the judge. Finito. |

TheGoodJoe:Bros u people are even taking this thing too far. Is that kid from Oxford better than the kid that studied in Nigeria? I am sure a lot of us here, who studied in Nigeria, have in one way or the other competed against graduates from foreign Universities and yet came out tops. Only the best deserving players get the nods. No sentiments please. |

Icon4s:I said the kid in Oxford is on scholarship while the kid in Nigeria is struggling to get educated. The kids in Nigeria do not even have the opportunity to give themselves good footballing education. This is not about sentiments but giving kids a chance to grow. It is not about sentiments but giving others a chance to grow and make something out of life. The foreign borns are overfed while those in Nigeria are malnourished. |

Icon4s:We have poor grassroot football development structure. The foreign borns have excellent grassroot football development structure. It is too much to ask to use the U17 as a good grassroot football development structure? Foden had already played the preseason games for Manchester City against Manchester United before he played the U17 World Cup. That is the gap in development between the Europeans and those in Nigeria. |

BascoVanVeli:This is not just about money but little to no grassroot football development structure in Nigeria. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 11:29am On Apr 14, 2019 |
TheGoodJoe:You may be referring to a certain category of kids. But another category of kids in Nigeria are having close to what the foreign kids are having. If that foreign kid comes in contest against some of these very privileged kids in Nigeria, the Nigerian kids can come out tops. We are talking about national bests and not a foreign trained kid comming up against average kids on the streets. |

ChrisKels:No be lie o bro. This guy broke my heart when we played against Egypt at KD that year, against Tanzania self, He just kept loosing goal scoring chances - one after another. The only reason why he's still with the team was that goal against Cameroon. I wouldn't want to see him wear the green Jersey after the AFCON, he's freaking unreliable. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 11:43am On Apr 14, 2019 |
BascoVanVeli:That is what I am saying. Without such a structure as the U17 Camping, we would not hsve the likes of the above mentioned. We need to maintain the sanity of the program to continue boosting the grassroot development. Not using it for kids who will not gain much from the U17 program. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 11:46am On Apr 14, 2019 |
Icon4s:I am interested in knowing the category of kids in Nigeria that get close to the kind of footballing education the kids in Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, Ajax are getting. Keep the U17 for grassroot development because the foreign borns have a large chunk of it already. Before the U17 World Cup, Sancho and Foden have already trained with the senior team of Manchester City. No kid in Nigeria have come close to such opportunity. Finito. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by BascoVanVeli(m): 12:31pm On Apr 14, 2019 |
TheGoodJoe:Look playing at a youth competition doesn't mean that you are good enough for the next level. In all sports players can be good at one level but not be able to make the jump to the next. The U17 is not where you should look in crystal balls and foresee the future but a tournament for the best sub 17 players in the world. We should always take the best available be it home or abroad. Here is an opinion. Nwakali and Iheanacho would probably be in better positions now if they had foregone the WC and gone on trials. The hype of being the best U17 players in the world priced out some clubs that would have been better for their development. Look at Samu Chukwueze who landed in a great Villarreal situation when the hype died down and the top clubs went away. He would have been in the same situation that Kelechi is in at Arsenal. At Villarreal he was made to play at almost all levels, they brought him along slow unlike the rest that were just thrown at the deep end. So this tells you that the WC has nothing to do with the real development. It is just a showcase of the best of the lot. |

tbaba1234:I don't understand your reasoning. Not all Nigerian kids are good irrespective of whether they born in Peckham or born in Ajegunle. Good is not about birth. In addition good is not a constant it will depreciate and appreciate with time indeed many will drop off before they are even 21. |

Joebie:There is a blatant shameless double standard HERE. When the NFF approached Uduokhai, Jordan Torunarigha, Akpoguma they have been consistently rejecting all advances. But we are still approaching them to date after continous consistent rejections. They have said some quite unflattering things about Nigeria. But nobody has attacked them with the same venom and unguarded hatred shown to Tega Abrahams. WHY ❓ ❓ The NFF and quite a few here are filled with unbridled hypocrisy. Tega did not tell Amaju to shout at the rooftops that he agreed to play for Nigeria. A situation that required quite diplomacy and a bit of subterfuge. Amaju carry loudspeaker begin shout. People have no idea about the high level of pressure that waa brought to bear on Tega. He was caught between a rock and a hard place. Damned if you don't damned if you do. Meanwhile he had not sorted out his long terms future thay could easily been jeopardised. Three seems to be very limited knowledge of the politics of football and yes discrimination and corruption. You think England were going to sit down and watch another potential Zaha situation happen again. What l am saying there is lot more to this story that will NEVER EVER BE MADE PUBLIC. I deviate somewhat we are still chasing these German Nigerian who have blatantly rejected Nigeria. But no mention of Dominic Iorfa who is comparable or even better. Particularly when he made commitments to the SE near three years ago. |

TheGoodJoe:Shutting the door against foreign born players, not coz of anything but their location of birth is a little too harsh. I'm seeing the reasons you're putting forward and you're making sense, but no one is for flooding the age grade teams with foreign talents, as there are just 2 in the present team which is about 1% of the total number of players in the team. You can't ignore someone like Akande with his unbelievable record in front of goal for sentimental reasons. There were 5 in the entire squad but only 2 made the cut, which means, those coming in must bring something exceptional to the table. |

Humility017:KPOM! This is just my personal observation. Check the history of Nigerian Players of dual nationalities, the Edos are always distinct. Dennis Osede Prieto was an integral member of Spain U20 when he made his GWG intentions known, Godswill Ekpolo was almighty La Masia captain when he declared for Nigeria, Enobakhare was wolves biggest youth success at the point he declared for Nigeria, the less said about Ebuehi, Osaze, Vicmo even ehizibue et al, the better. Oya check out my igbo brothers like Nedum Onuoha wey dem born for Warri oo, Carlton Obinze Cole, Angelo Ogbonna wey him uncle follow dey run heartland fc Dat year oo, what of Oguchi Onyewu wey dem also born for Lagos et al |

charlesemeka85:What you are saying is ABSOLUTELY TRUE. However things are changing quite rapidly the racist bigots in the English football administration have been forced to come to terms with the reality VERY BITTERLY & GRUDGINGLY that if you look at modern football without the inherent God given attributes in the genes of Africans irrespective if 2nd or 3rd generation or much longer, You will not win much. England for the first time in its racially biased history taking a leaf from France. Decided to allow our boys African origin free unrestricted acces to the youth teams. What was the result. For the first time in thier history they dominated U17, U19 and U21. And sweeped the table. Right now go to the top academies in England they are actively looking for our sons aggressively. They are recruiting players at age 5/6 by age 8/9 they are training 4/5 times a week including matches for at least 2 hours. They are looking for the next Mbappe. When Seyi Ojo, Raheem Sterling were just 14 Liverpool paid £1.8 and 1 million respectively. And that was almost 10 years ago. Inflation and other factors had pushed prices up not down. If you are 12 sometimes younger and showing real outstanding promise you will be shocked at the kind of £££ inducement coming the way of the parents. Yes they can buy you a house and a new car too but not necessarily a Bentley. And the larger percentage of these players are African origin. I was talking to a Championship club sometime ago and the recruitment made it clear that they are looking for our fast and strong " Pounded Yam " boys not cream coloured potato boys. So it's almost a kind of reverse racism, go to the dressing room at the academy they are not played bon Jovi it's Davido and Whizkid and they are all doing Shaku Shaku. I am sure I shared a video of PSG U19 changing room after a match they were 90% black. Watched Chelsea U18 in a match and all the outfield players at one stage were all black apart from the goalkeeper. There is CHANGE in the players selection but not in the management and coaching staff, they are still all 99% white. No change there yet. |

junnyjake:Akande and the likes do not need the U17 to propel their careers and lives. Just like players like Sancho and Foden did not need the U17. Same with the likes of Fabregas and David Silva. Their country have well laid out structure to develop them. The likes of Akande can join in the U20 to boost the name of their fatherland but in the U17, for every Akande we take means a tougher life for a kid who is fighting to achieve his dreams. I repeat the U17 will better the development of young players in a long way if it is restricted for grassroot development. Same with the u15s. |
