Here's what Atiku told the PDP leadership 8 years ago, when the party tweaked the zoning arrangement for Jonathan.

Let me again send another message to the leadership of PDP that those who make peaceful change impossible, make violent change inevitable.

That was 8 years ago when he obviously had more time, but little or no chance to win the presidency. Now, can you try to imagine how he feels now that he's running out of time due to age and is face to face with the best shot he ever had at occupying the #1 seat - either by ballot or through the judiciary?

Now add that to the present situation where APC seeks to "make peaceful change impossible" by questioning his citizenship and, by so doing, recklessly try to take Atiku out from the very process of debate. That's simply like trying to push a lion to the wall.

Personally, I think that Atiku has not started talking tough simply because he was persuaded earlier this year by the US Secretary of State to ensure that he and his party follow the rule of law and shun divisive rhetorics. However, as comforting as that may sound, few things make me think that Atiku will not remain calm for long considering the zero-sum approach (google it) which APC seem to have recklessly adopted.

Here are those few reasons:

1)

Someone posted here earlier this year that neither Buhari nor Atiku would be in as the president by June this year. (Of course, you do not have to believe that).

See the post here: https://www.nairaland.com/4364282/2019-election-hold-after-6/27#76523671

2)

The current new wave of revolutionary movements in Algeria and Sudan may have started giving some people some ideas in Nigeria.

3)

A part of the rebuttal issued by Atiku's media aide (against APC's claim that Atiku was not born a Nigerian and is therefore not in the position to contest or question Buhari's reelection) suggests (without saying) that the campaign may cease to recognize the legitimacy of the present government after May 29.

What's your take in all this?

I think APC is acting very irrationally.

What does APC think would happen if the court strikes out their petty claim, and gives Atiku the mandate?

Are they deliberately inciting Buhari's base against any eventuality of Atiku's win in the tribunal by making people believe that it is illegal for Atiku to be president of Nigeria?

If the court upholds APC's claim and disqualifies Atiku on the assumption that he was not born a Nigerian, thereby denying him the right to ever aspire to be president there, do you think Atiku would accept it as a fair judgement and take it lying down?

What do you think about this zero-sum game that APC is playing?

Shouldn't you be happy for it instead of wailing for what's not your business

The APC are trying hard to make it seem Atiku has no right to make claims to the presidency hence the zero- sum approach. But it'll back fire soon enough and snowball into something they never anticipated. You don't turn your back on a charging bull.

That's my exact concern.

But the thing is why are doing this?

Are they just being petty, foolish and thoughtless?

Or, are they hoping to instigate civil unrest knowing that they have zero valid counter to Atiku's position on 2019 election?

Any fairly thoughtful person should know that a zero-sum approach at this juncture will rarely end well.

My brother your disposition are too excessively foolish to be of any intelligent contribution on NL. You can have Atiku lead Boko Haram he will still not become the president in Nigeria, not in this life or after life.
