Before the year 2004 taking off your shirt to celebrate a goal was a legal way of celebrating
and scorers would go unpunished.

But in 2004 a game changed it all.
Do you know the player who caused ithuh

Diego Forlan

In a game for Manchester United he scored a goal and took of his shirt, fair enough!

But the problem was that the jubilation dragged for long and by the time the game restarted he was still without his shirt. He resumed play holding his shirt in his hand and was only able to put it back on when there was a break in play.

Fifa got to hear about this and frowned at his actions, then they were imposed the rule that if you take of your shirt during a celebration the player will be cautioned.

The real reason is because of advert. by pulling your jersey, you reveal the name of the organisation in your inner wear.that is free marketing strategy. FIFA hates it.

This rule started way before 2004.

Before 2004, players had been cautioned for removing their shirts. I can still recall vividly a France 98 FIFA World Cup qualifier between Nigeria and Kenya on Saturday June 7 1997 at the National Stadium Surulere Lagos. The march ended 3 nil in favour of Nigeria. Wilson Oruma was issued a yellow card for removing his shirt in the course of celebrating a goal he scored.

He cannot! ranting and pains are in their blood. Just read his monicker "Enemy of peace". Fact is even if he becomes the President of Nigeria today, his own would be worse, he would even collapse in just a week under the weight of the Nation's burden. They approach every aspect of life with this warped political mindset

Arkmanbuddy:
This reason OP says is totally false! The major reason why FIFA banned the pulling off of shirt during celebration was because many players were in the habit of passing messages through their inner wears like religious, social and political and FIFA didn't want to be enmeshed in any of that, so the ban had to be placed.

No religious or political messages during celebrations when all eyes would be on the player. The player could still pull off after the match, but then there wouldn't be much attention on him/her at that time. Period!
You are right, op is only assuming.
