But Ndigbo in the North composed a song taunting the late Sarduana of Sokoto in the land where they were welcomed. You dont need to go on a plebiscite to show u condone the act, actions and inactions can show your support for a cause. Even the pseudo federalism we suffering from today was caused by Igbos. Ben Nnwabueze drafted that decree No. 13 of 1966 which Gen. Ironsi used in setting Nigeria on unitary path where each states now look to federal govt for revenue. Once the Northerners this false sense of federalism, they never want to hear about Restructuring anymore.

Pls bring the song is talking about that IGBOS composed.

Mind u, Ironsi didn't end regional government n resource control, Gowon did

God bless u. That's d difference between Nigerians and ipobians. Whie one frowns at crime, seeks to expose it and seeks to convict criminals, its d other way round on d other side esp when a brother is involved!
SMH

And yet u swore an oath that ipobians would never leave Nigeria.

Can't u exist n survive without IGBOS?

so you think Nigeria was peaceful at that time, abi? Go and ask your elders about the wetie and wild wild west. It was the politics of bitterness between akintola and awolowo, that made the military strike with a coup. Opposition party members were being attacked with acid, there was brake down of law and order. And the politicians were only concerned with looting and corruption. The military had to step in to restore law and order. I don't blame you, I blame the shameless Nigerian govt that expunged history from our education curriculum. So that uniform novice like you can come online and spew rubbish.
lolz u don't need to make foul statement,go and read the book WHY WE STRUCK by one of the major coup plotters major ademoyega, and know the real reason why they plotted the coup, and get more history from other documentaries like REAL NAIJA STORY, I think u need to know more about history, thanks

The 1963 vote for Nigeria to be a republic is a twist people don't look at
Before 1963 zik was governor general and had the armed forces flag to his office
Balewa was prime minister and had the green white green flag to his office
Zik had more power than balewa and was only answerable to the Queen of england
The political coup of 1963 where the house voted for Nigeria to be a republic removed power from the office of the governor general
And gave the armed forces flag and that if the green white green to balewa made zik the ceremonial president or vice president
He lost power
And this was the beginning of the power tussle which the plotters planned to correct
Igbos lost out in that 1963 power vote

But they still bear the names of their ancestral lands. My question is why did the Igbos in the North rejoice over the killing of the Sarduana? why weren't no Igbo leaders killed. however you wanna defend it, the non killing of Eastern leaders gave the coup an ethnic coloration.

Bring proof that IGBOS in the north rejoiced over the killing of saraduna.

Meanwhile there was a lot of celebration across Nigeria after the coup.

This bridge was commissioned by the then Prime Minister late Alhaji Tafawa Balewa and opened for traffic in December 1965... barely 15 days after, The same Balewa was assassinated by the people he commissioned the bridge for.

Two years later, the same people destroyed what was built for them.

He commissioned it but it wasn't a federal government funded project but regional. You need to understand how the country worked back then.

He only commissioned it cos of his position as the prime minister.

The only motive behind your comment is to incite hate.

Ifeajuna and other ibo soldiers killed other regional leaders and spared theirs.

Ironsi instead of executing them immediately, was pampering them. All the problems in this country can be traced back to ibo betrayal in that first coup
find time to read intently about the war..and stop relying on what people told you..thats our major problem in Nigeria.we don't think.we let people think for us ,and tell us what to think.

He was deceived in believing that. The leader of the coup,I believe knew that they wanted to dominate the Hausas who were their co-travellers in the government of the day then
Okay, why did they kill all the leaders of the other ethnic group and left Ibo leaders untouched. That is real wickedness and grave betrayal.

IGBOS didn't need to dominate the Hausas, They already dominated the whole Nigeria in 1966.

Go and find out why Ironsi, Micheal Okpara n zik weren't killed

I think that's overstatement, military will never plot a sucessful coup and installed civilian afterwards.

This military was filled with small children, like 28 year olds.

Major Ademoyega wrote in his book 'why we stuck' that their plan was to execute the coup n hand over power to Awolowo

That one no prevent Afonjas from marrying Biafra's. One Nigeria is mission impossible.

One Nigeria is very possible. As a matter of fact, we are in one Nigeria.

I will only agree we are not when those saying so put their money where their mouth is. what do I mean?

All over the country Nigerians work together when Economic exchanges, transactions and everyday realities require it. whether it is an Igbo working in a Yoruba man's Company or Yorubas working in an Igbo man's company, Or both Igbos/Yorubas working in a Fulani/Huasa man's firm and various other combinations.

Or do you mean when an igbo/Yoruba allows an hausa) Fulani man to be his 'maiguard', fetch water, carry loads in a market, dig his ditch or repair his shoes they don't know they are practicing one Nigeria ? How funny can we be?

Do you know that there are Igbos/Yorubas who are above 30 years calling for a split, but have never spent a cummulative of more than 20 days in their home states/regions yearly ?

If you able to evade all of the above, then the next time you take a cab/bus never join until you are sure the driver is of your chosen ethnicity.

You get my point?

All this No one Nigeria talk is sweet for 'beer parlour' conversations and maybe forum banters like you see here, BUT the real deal would be to not do business, sell to, work for, or live with/in ethnicities/ethnic locations you disagree with.

That's the real deal. I don't see this happening in this interconnected world, do you?

hahaha.

By the way if/when their is a split, do Current Nigerians expect free movements across the prospective countries or they know VISA requirements/restrictions may apply?

That’s to tell you that he massacre of over 60,000 igbo civilians all over the north was premeditated.

Other coups and assasination happened after that but no tribe was massacred.

They were envious of igbos and looking for the right excuse to do what they did.

Today they are looking for another excuse but unfortunately for them a character like Nnamdi Kanu arouse.

If 1966 massacre happens again, that will be the fastest route to Biafra. This time, the international community will see it happen live.

But it happened again, more than 100s were killed during operation python dance, the international community saw it and they did nothing.

But you know what?

Yorubas were still more prosperous, progressive and developed than your nepotistic progenitors and Yorubas had to lend them money 2 times so they won't die of want and poverty.
