Very correct. I wonder why we can't forge ahead and forget the past.

Correction. There was no battle at Niger Bridge the battle was Onitsha waterside. Achuzia blew up the bridge to slow the advance of the Nigerian forces. Murtala then sent thousands of soldiers across to Onitsha where they started to loot and destroy like they had done in Asaba. Biafran soldiers rallied and totally massacred the Federal forces. Some managed to swim back to Asaba to tell what happened.

Murtala the butcher of asaba, high on drugs and overconfident after his babalawo assured him he would win, sent wave after wave of men in boats across to Onitsha but they were massacred also. [/quote]

This bridge was commissioned by the then Prime Minister late Alhaji Tafawa Balewa and opened for traffic in December 1965... barely 15 days after, The same Balewa was assassinated by the people he commissioned the bridge for.

Two years later, the same people destroyed what was built for them.

Very wicked and senseless people

Ibos caused all the problems we have in Nigeria from the first coup to nepotism to unitary system which has totally strangled the people of Nigeria.

You are very silly. Was Adewale Ademoyega an Igbo? Go and read his book "Why We Struck" (which I read close to 30 years ago) and get some first-hand information from one of the ringleaders of the 1966 coup.

Stop being hypocritical. If it were Igbo man was the Head of state when Abiola was killed, you would still be calling Igbos like you are doing in the case of Balewa.

Abiola won the 1993 Presidential election and was jailed and subsequently killed by northerners but you have never blamed anyone because you are scared of the north.

Let us discuss why the killers of Abiola and his wife were protected even till now. It is a shame that yorubas of which i am one can swallow anything thrown at them by the northerners
shehu yar'adua died in prison too don't forget please. Obasanjo was saved in prison by same people. Always be guided.

Yes bro. That was what got the northerners angry. Aguiyi Ironsi did not execute those motherfuckers so they felt he was happy with what they(murderers) did. Those motherfuckers would have killed obafemi awolowo too if he had not been in prison

Kaduna Nzeogwu that carried out the coup is from Niger Delta, Achuzia that blow up the bridge is from Niger Delta.

The same people will tell you that there is no Igbo in Niger Delta and refer this people as Igbos.

You killed northern leaders and they revenged but you are distorting facts that they were envious.
Do you know that prior to the 1966 coup there was a pogrom in the north against Igbos(Kano riot in 1953)?
and the officers that foiled the coup was of Igbo extraction e.g It failed in Kano because Ojukwu held his ground, Nzeogwu assaainated an Igbo officer for refusing to hand over the keys to the armoury in kaduna
Now because it suits ur biased narrative Ifeajuna, Nzeogwu, Oguche, Ademoyega etal who where mostly from Mid-west, South West etc are now Igbos I though most you said there are no Igbos in the Niger Delta? It's a pity that history is not thought in schools that's why kids just talk anyhow.

Was it not Abacha who spearheaded the trial and execution of Saro Wiwa, supervised by Col Dauda Musa Komo as MILAD of Rivers State then?

If you are of the indomie generation, please stay away from threads like this. You probably did not study history in school.

Care to show me links to prove that Ndigbo voted in a plebiscite for Nzeogwu and his gang to go and murder anyone?

Classic case of giving a dog a bad name in order to hang it!
But Ndigbo in the North composed a song taunting the late Sarduana of Sokoto in the land where they were welcomed. You dont need to go on a plebiscite to show u condone the act, actions and inactions can show your support for a cause. Even the pseudo federalism we suffering from today was caused by Igbos. Ben Nnwabueze drafted that decree No. 13 of 1966 which Gen. Ironsi used in setting Nigeria on unitary path where each states now look to federal govt for revenue. Once the Northerners this false sense of federalism, they never want to hear about Restructuring anymore.

This dayokanu too funny walahi

How was he protecting the coup plotters when they were in jail awaiting prosecution. The special investigation team led by M.D. Yusuf (fulani) submitted its report to Hassan Katsina who did nothing with it. (he was already plotting the countercoup)

How did IronsI protect them? You have no facts

The team was led by Lt Col Yakubu Gowon. Other members of team were Capt. Bala Usman and AIG M. D. Yususf.

Where were Kaduna Nzeogwu and Donatus Okafor born? They were both born in the North, grew up in the North and were fluent Hausa speakers. They hardly spent any time in Igboland. Since there were no states in Nigeria then, and no indigene-settler dichotomy, they were to all intent and purposes, Northerners!

But they still bear the names of their ancestral lands. My question is why did the Igbos in the North rejoice over the killing of the Sarduana? why weren't no Igbo leaders killed. however you wanna defend it, the non killing of Eastern leaders gave the coup an ethnic coloration.

...and the barbaric revenge had to be on defenseless civilians..., who knew nothing about the coup?
many of you don't even know what led to the civil war. The war was as a result of the unending killings between hausa/fulanis and ibos after the coup. The coup only had little effect on the civil war.

And this was because of how the Igbos rejoiced over the killing of sardauna.
