I just brought in a 2006 Toyota Corolla from Cotonou. I need someone that can help me process the original custom papers.

Please let me know the cost and time that it will take to get it.

NB: I need genuine people as I will verify the papers

How much did you get it in Cotonou. I want to decide between 05 or 06 model. Just wanna know if it's relatively cheaper there than Lagos. Thanks!

By the time you add the custom duty which is going to be very high than the one they charge at Lagos port, you will know that it’s not a good idea. Importing vehicle from Cotonou is illegal for now, The custom Duty may not be 100% genuine.

Chances of getting a clean titled car in Lagos is very slim. Chances of getting a car that the mileage has not been tampered with is more slimmer.

Cotonou provides you with the true meaning of Tokumbo. What you see is what you are getting not some refurbished salvage/lemon brand cars.

I got mine at 2M without custom papers.

Mileage is 139k original
Title is clean
Number of calculated owner = 1.
Service history is clean.

I will have to drive mine 5 years before it will get to the level/grade of the ones they sell at Berger

Also note that Toyota corolla is rated this way in model and price

2003
2004/2005
2006/2007

There may not be significant price difference in 2004 and 2005 model but 2006 model differ more slightly as it sells at the same price with 2007 (Lagos and Cotonou car dealers, 2019)

400-450 is the duty amount for 06 Corolla at the Lagos seaport. If you’re truly charged 250 please don’t drive that car to Ibadan or any road there is custom check point, if You do they will impound your car.

It’s your choice so I can’t say it’s high or low.... But hope you know that most cars in Cotonou also are not clean title. They work on them before bringing them to the the market.

VIN check in Cotonou when the Lebanese, and the black Agent are standing on your neck.. You will drive the car for not up to 50 meters and I’m sure the gear won’t change up to gear 3 because everywhere is filled up of cars. I’ve been going to Cotonou car markets since 2008 so I know lot about their shady deals.

I was about saying this. If care is not taken, some people will charge you as high N500,000 promising you genuine one and end up giving you fake.

You could wait till government would open land bother or be driving your car within a city or so.

OP! This is the best piece of advice for you; those quoting N250,000 for you will get you forged customs paper.

The bolded. What if He’s driving and unfortunately The Custom just stop him? Or someone close to Him set him up with the customs. Cotonou is a bad idea for now that the land border is closed.

Customs hardly stop one within a city or town. Plus he has gotten the car already; we can't tell him to return it back to Cotonou.

You’re right. And now those that advised him to get the car through that route did so just because of what they will get from the deal. That amount will get a clean title 07 with change left.

No doubt. One of the cars I picked there came out as salvage but it's slim compared to Berger.

100% of the cars from Berger that I ran the Vin either comes out salvage or has had the odometer badly tampered with.

Imagine rolling back the mileage of a car from 299k to 88k. That's evil!

Bro, I will not disagree that Cotonou sells salvage titled cars.

But what I stand to be corrected is that they will disclose the true identity of the car to you. It's your choice to buy or not to buy.

Please where did you see one.

I tried importing this car from US through a popular Nairaland car dealer but the cost was even higher.

The prices range from 2.5-2.9 million.

If your Corolla is 06 then 2 Million Naira is too High by the time you add Custom Duty you're looking at 2.5 million Naira for 2006 Corolla.... in 2019

In as much you could be right, if the car is truly a clean title one, it is not high. #Justsaying

He said there’s little impact on the car and that takes away the clean title. If you add 400-500k duty then it’s high. 2.4 for 2006 Corolla.
