komekn:Oh, my! Who would have thought, I've been using that phrase wrongly all these while. As an electrical engineer, I've automatically understood the phrase to mean 2 current carrying conductors bridging, resulting in a short circuit, I don't think there's need telling how catastrophic the resultant effect. I apologize for the misunderstanding. BTW, How was my reply caustic? What characterized it as gutter language? Why is it classified as vitriol? Accusatory; yes. Confrontational; I can agree with that. |

Meanwhile, I like what Rangers are doing in the npfl....3 points clear on top group A with 3 outstanding games... They won back to back away games within the space of three days.. its obvious Gbenga Ogunbote is doing an excellent job there.. All in all, this season NPFL has been good...lots of away wins... Shame we can't watch it on TV... |

TheGoodJoe:What in the world are you talking about? Why wouldn't there be 50 young professionals in Spain? Are their young men running away from their league like a plague? We need to focus our energy on developing our country instead of discrimination. I repeat that this is a children's tournament and all adult sentiments should be shoved aside. If a boy wants to play in the world cup and then run off to sing with Wiz Kid I wouldn't care because he had a once in a lifetime experience which he earned by being among the best in his age group. This children should stop feeling like the faith of their extended families rest on their heads. Let them play football in peace. When it comes to Barcelona the only words that come to mind are La Masia. Just like the Manchester 93 set are credited to their academy. These players made their first teams through hard work. Nothing was given to them. You can take a horse to the river bro. Also will the U17 world cup really improve our grassroots if your plan is to ship them abroad. If anything you are helping the grassroots in other countries with that plan. |

BascoVanVeli:Development of grassroot players. That is the point. After all you wrote, you have no justification why giving away the little opportunity grassroot players have is a solution for their development. Finito. |

Just looked through the list for the highest goal scorers in Europes top leagues. African countries like Algeria, Egypt, Senegal, Morocco and even Ivory coast have at least one repreentative. No Nigerian on the list. I'm saddened by it but hopeful for the best at AFCON. https://www.goal.com/en-ng/lists/golden-shoe-2018-19-messi-mbappe-ronaldo-europes-top-scorers/qlukekp7wi9s1cgl9fc4y2zo4#1qdshp3khiqae1c3jtrijdsh47 |

forgiveness:Football education in the country is rot due to the poor structure of the grassroot. Even a big man's child will not get Ajax academy education in Nigeria. So no beef if a big man's kid is outstanding in camp. He is going to get better education and exposure. However, I am against giving a scholarship to a big man's child whose father can pay 800,000 naira a term without flinching. Give the scholarship to a child that really needs it. Finito. |

TheGoodJoe:Admit it you don't care about the grassroots you just want the players to go to Europe, how grassroots is that? It is not their "opportunity". If FB children were ineligible then you can say the opportunity belongs solely to children born in Nigeria but you would be stealing what is rightfully theirs if they are good enough. You would be turning kids into collateral damage for something that will only lead to more discrimination. Why don't we ignore the best based in Nigeria and only select from places that have never yielded talents? |

BascoVanVeli:I have said it repeatedly that we need to build our grassroot structure. I even went as far as showing how developed the Brazilian system is. Pointing out how early young players break in. I have talked of us having junior leagues etc. I went as far as pasting the development system if Spain hoping we adopt it. I was one of the first, if not the first who cried about how the state of the pitches were hindering the growth of our football. It is wrong to make false accusations to sell your point. When I talk of players getting opportunities fron the U17, are all of them going to play Europe? Simple. Use the U17 for grassroot development. The foreign borns are spoilt with too much opportunities. We have other levels they can represent the country. As long as the opportunities are minute here, we should embrace using the U17 for grassroot development of players. Finito. |
