Obono-Obla was free to go because he is Buhari's henchman.

Buhari the Integrity Papa. As old as he is, he cannot/will not do what is right because he needs the adulation and worldly comforts that come with presidential power.
Is Obono-Obla & Godwin Obla one & d same?

Deepthoughts:
So if there's a case law that prohibits the prosecution of judicial officers without first been dealt with by NJC,why was onnoghen arraigned at the CCT without recourse to the NJC first?,why didn't the NJC defended this provision in the onnoghen's case?,yet somebody will want me to believe that the onnoghen saga is not a premeditated affair. The hypocrisy deciet n bias of buhari/Apc is the reason why personally I can never support them.
Oga there are things you don't know. The code of conduct has to come in in the case of onnoghen because his case is related. If onnoghen had killed someone, that has nothing to do with cct

The truth is for judges there is a thin line between bribes and appreciation and these two need to be clearly defined by the law and circumstances.

EFCC are not as dumb as most people think. They're Nigerians too and they perfectly understand how these corrupt people play smart, so they arrange other charges and obtain an arrest warrant waiting should the case be struck out. Failure to act this way, the said judge will hurriedly use her loot and be in one Island somewhere the next minute.
The corruption of the judiciary is the most annoying. EFCC, try harder please.

Nigeria. Someone's matter is struck out... she's not been convicted and you're seated comfortably at your keyboard calling her a criminal. Do you like the many ignorant like you even know the meaning of that word? angry
Re: BREAKING: EFCC Arrests Justice Ofili-ajumogobia As Court Strikes Out Corruption by deomelo: 3:35pm On Apr 16, 2019
I just wonder why the court entertained the case and proceeded with the trial from start to finish before figuring out that this particular court was the wrong jurisdiction.

The way corrupt judges use this insulting angle to release and let criminals walk away free with their loot is just mind bugling.

Where exactly is the correct jurisdiction in Nigeria for trial and prosecution? Seriously?

This is why when it comes to fighting corruption, we are not going anywhere because the judiciary as our last stand against corruption is the weakest, the most incompetent and the most corrupt link and arm of government.

How sad.

what they need to do is going back to their drawing board and look for another evidence . see efcc is people I know very well and I have had encountered with them . in their office they called them almighty efcc where is they need to do more. they loose cases on daily basis because their cases lack merits.

Conviction and Criminal are 2 different words with different meanings.

The person you quoted said criminal, not convicted.

You actually sound ignorant.

when u are ignorant of something and someone is trying to teach u, pay attention instead of reacting blindly. Stop dwelling and jubilating in your ignorance ok. when u strike out a matter, the accused can be arrested and tried again the very next day. it is not an acquittal of the charges

EFCC were being sharp.

In the Nganjiwa Case, a sitting Judge was arraigned without being dismissed by NJC before arraignment. On appeal, the court held the trial court had no jurisdiction to entertain an arraignment of a sitting Judge, and that the court ought to have struck out the case.

The same thing happened here. But sometime during trial, EFCC petitioned NJC, and, after investigations, NJC dismissed Ajumogobia.

However, she had, at that time, already been arraigned as a sitting Judge. Justice Oshodi had no choice but to strike the case out.

A "strike out" is not a "dismissal" or an "acquittal."

A dismissal or acquittal essentially means "go and never return." It operates as res judicata, and you cannot retry the person for any issue related to the subject matter of the charge dismissed or acquitted.

A strike out means "there's something stopping the court from doing anything on this case. Go back, sort that thing out and return." You CAN retry someone for the exact same charge struck out, IF you sort out the issue for which it was struck out.

Right now, Ajumogobia is NOT a sitting Judge, as she has been dismissed by NJC. So, EFCC can retry her. This time, the court will have Jurisdiction. I'm sure that's why they waited to rearrest her.

Her Lawyer lacked foresight. He should've seen this coming from a mile. They should've allowed them to convict her, then Appeal on grounds of Lack of Jurisdiction. The court of Appeal would've set aside the conviction, and that would have had the same effect as an acquittal.

I never said the judge's actions be condoned but rather Nairalanders shouldn't condemn her while coming across as angels without any tendency to behave like her. Thus, attention be paid more to self-control and self-mastery.

Clearly, your hastiness in reprising convention and amassing likes herein blinded you from the said fact. It's judgmental people like you that would betray public trust for the "right" price and act sanctimoniously just to purport as a saint. Learn from the mistakes of others, never think--consciously or unconsciously--you're immune to repeating them. By thinking you won't, you could; by thinking you could, you most likely won't.
