If undergraduates are failing this phy112 course like this in ABU, then I give Kudos to our physics lecturers here

i am a graduate of the university and during my time more than 4 lecturers took that course

dont be savage bros. what do u want the lecturer to do after wasting all his time and effort trying to teach them now ur are saying he should have set cheap questions? then why are they in university if they aren't ready to learn? and beside most of these carry over students dont even attend lectures and yet u expect the lecturer to do some miracles and make them pass

You don't need to set cheap questions to test your students rather you set questions that the students would be able to answer well. That is what is obtainable globally. Give same course to another lecturer and watch how the students will do well

What if far below average or poor educational foundation students were pushed to you to lecture,will you open their heads and put the knowledge?
Most of you commenting here have never been to the north.

Even at that there is a way a lecturer examine his or her student's ability before the main exam. If after series of quiz and the performance of students are below average then the questions has to change.At least five quizzes with different approach would do. As a lecturer ( teacher), you should compare questions set during quiz and the pass rate to draw conclusion. I do have a lecturer friend of mine that gives his students study questions. Out of 10 questions given, 3 will be examined ( same question) while the other three will be from other topics within the course outline.

There are several lecturers for this course. There are also several groups.

Each aspect of the course is taken by a different lecturer. Electricity, Magnetism and Modern physics each has a lecturer.

For example, engineering offers the course, the faculty may be split into 2 groups because of the number where no lecture theatre can accommodate them as a single group. Each group is a faculty and if the group number is more than that which a lecture theatre could accommodate, the group is split.

So there are a minimum of 3 lecturers per group. Now engineering will have 2 groups having lecture at the same time. So 2 people will take electricity at the same time and so on. At the end, 6 lecturers take this course per group.

This means there should be a minimum of 6 people doing this course having 1 course coordinator.

The result shared by the op is for building department which is the faculty of environmental science group.

Besides, what made you think that all the students are northerners? ABU is in Kaduna which is one of the northern states with a high population of southerners and people of middle belt origin. Don't be surprised that almost half of the students are southerners.

Let me give them an example, Kogi state indigenes population in ABU and Kadpoly is second only to Kaduna state indigenes.

States with highest polulation in these 2 schools apart from Kaduna indigenes are Benue and Kogi which in my opinion take up to 30% of the school community including staff and students.

ABU is the most diversely populated university in Nigeria followed by Kadpoly. I had Nigeriens, Chadians and Cameroonians as classmates in Abu.

I didn't say this course isn't cumbersome on its own, but they really tried bringing it to the reasoning of the least Minimal level for the less brilliant ones..

All I can say is that the fault is on the lecturers (40%) then the students (60%).

That's a very unfair result. Made me remember my second year in Mechanical engineering, UNN where we did an Electrical Engineering course and almost 90% of the whole faculty's 200level students failed the course. What exactly do these guys gain failing students without cause?

Lol, EE211, funny enough I chose that as my elective. The other option is Real Analysis and I no ready for am. Exams in few weeks. Hoping for the best.
