It's time to pass a bill compelling every public office holder using government resources to only drive made in Nigeria cars. This will definitely fasten the growth and innovation of the industry.

Efewestern:
FG should do more to promote our automobile industry, Buhari should ensure all federal agencies procure their vehicles from Innoson. Nice one Mr President.

Buy Naija to Grow Naija.

There is no need for that. We operate a free market economy. What government can do is to ensure their products remain competitive by, as it were, calming the storms around them aka the much touted 'enabling environment', or investing in thier primary cost centres, power, transport infrastructure, taxation regime, inflation/interest rates and all the things they and their suppliers need to keep their production costs down, then they cam compete with the more established international brands and this will brosden their customer base beyond government.

If I was the Minister of Industries, Trade & Investment I will be having quarterly meetings with this company and five ir six other key industrial concerns which the government must treat as 'Too Critical Not To Succeed', with a view of ensuring they are a critical pillar in the nation's industrial masterplan.

If our leaders are good readers they will realise that right from the inception of the industrial revolution every western government has created, developed and sustained synergies with private industrial concerns. From the Trading Companies of Imperial Britain evolving into mega industrial giants such as Corrus, Rolls Royce, British Aerospace. In France you have Dassault, Renault, Citroen. In Germany you had Porsche, Volkswagen, Krupp, Rhinemetall all doing their bit for Hitler's war effort. Japan had Nippon steel, Mitsubishi maling planes, tanks, ships. In America Ford converted his factories to help the war effort, Obama in return ensured they will not go down the dustbin of financial history. Today companies like Boeing are just 'Too Big To Fail'. Their various subsidosries make everything from military drones to spacecraft.

Why is Nigeria not doing everything it can to raise industrial giants who make stuff that can place the country on the global map. Why does it have to wait for the three and a half decades it has taken a visionaire such as Dangote to get to dominate JUST AFRICA. When he started Google wasn't in existence, Microsoft was just kicking off together with Hyundai, Virgin and others. I woukd not even talk about Tesla or those supercharged Asian conglomerates...

Nigeria must join the league of nations that take industrialization seriously. Like I said some time ago we need to get to the basics. No industrialization is possible without a viable and vibrant steel complex and without an abudance of cheap, reliable power and I certainly mean coal fired power. Without these two a country will NEVER industrialize and as such can never become truly prosperous.

Igbos are famous for producing fake, Innoson went ahead and produced fake Toyota vehicles. All I see here are counterfeit Hilux and Hiace.
Igbos and fake products are like Aba and fake shoe.
