RTSC: Ronaldo and messi are great because someone took interest in them. Messi would have languished in penury if the parents didn't put in more effort. There are many great talents worldwide better than that two but was never discovered. What is talent if you don't make effort to be noticed?.. ...and that is what the article tends to drive at. |

Elemosho478:Perpetual nkwocha is the most decorated player in female football. It would take lot for oshoala who is not as talented by the way, to reach her achievements let alone surpass. She can't even win Africa's best player consistently like perpetual did. In the male team, Yoruba did not dominate because you were just not good enough enmass. You can't tell me that the coaches did not come to Lagos to scout Yoruba players. That is where they even go, but somehow igbos dominate. Yes, we had the likes of yekini who were phenomenal players, but the team was built on igbo players. 4 Likes |

ZaraGift: Who's the illiterate between me and you? First, you are not educated enough to know that Daniel Amokachi is from Kaduna State. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Amokachi and you foolishly said Ahmed Musa is not a Northerner because his mum is not from the North. I just hope you ain't teaching in a Nursery and Primary School, because you're a stark illiterate! |

frowland:I don't disagree that talents are wasted in the north. What I disagree is claiming that the highest wasted talents are in the north. It doesn't make sense. Population is not football. Common sense dictates that the place with the most accomplished players would have more wasted talents. For example, South America should have the highest number of wasted supreme talents in the world. 4 Likes 1 Share |

i disagree with this write up. however to be non-tribalistic, there are talented players all over Nigeria. the "east" are simply unique when it comes to sport and et all, this facts is visible to the blind and audible to the deaf. anybody can make any statement they want to make, they are entitled to there opinion besides there is freedom of speech. |

RTSC: That wouldn't change the fact that 2 Yoruba Players are the highest goal scorer in the national team History, not even one but 2 . Asisat Oshoala is also making wave winning Africa best player 4 times, with how you guys are many in the national team Yoruba shouldn't even be able to achieve much but we still manage to stay on top despite the fact that we are few, and we also don't put much envisage on Football in South West but Education most of the parents don't support it This is Asisat Oshoala individual award and honour

It is a shame that people have decided to tribalize what clearly was not an ethnic comment. His claim whether true or not is nothing about players ethnic origin but where they are or developed. To that extent there have been several "hot spots" in Nigeria for football development Namely Lagos, Kaduna, Enugu Benin, Jos,Ibadan and Port Harcourt ,there are others Lagos was the leader for a long time simply because the National stadium was in Lagos . Many players from all over the country developed in Lagos this is a fact. The old Bendel state Edo/Delta deserve special mention = NNB/ Bendel Insurance etc It says nothing about their origins I believe Rashidi Yekini developed in the "North" like Mikel Obi, Daniel Amokachi( He is not Igbo) Peter Rufai was a Sharks PH product Keshi ,Oliseh and many Edo players developed in Lagos in the 80s NEPA was an important contributor to football in those days and developed players all over the country as well as training facilities a lot in the North(Kwara/Kogi) Many many players developed in the North that is a fact!! So reading and comprehending before REACTING is very important His comments were NOT about players origins but where they ARE It is sad that people have chosen to project their personal bitterness on to very simple remarks. On the whole he is right , in my opinion, The North remains a hot spot for football development to this day regardless of where the individuals come from. A very large population of people of southern descent live in the North and play football there anyway The only problem is millions of Nigerian youth claiming to be graduates that cannot read and comprehend simple English 1 Like |

Silly talk. Is J.J Okocha from the north? Kanu Nwankwo? Rashidi Yekini? Jonathan Akpoboririe? Finidi George? The biggest problem in Nigerian sport is that there is no good healthcare system/facilities to support injuries and promote participation, or else you will find loads of talented individuals ready to play soccer. Nigeria is on par with Brazil in terms of skill level. It is the lack of organization and facilities which keep people from exploring sports as a hobby or profession. The number involved currently would be higher if we were an organized nation. |

Re: Usman Yinka Salihu: Most Talented Footballers In Nigeria Are In The North by Nobody: 4:25pm On Apr 18, 2019 |
aribisala0: If you could comprehend what I wrote you would realize also that anywhere in Nigeria talent exists, but the problem is the lack of organization. Referring to the north is silly because Rangers, Bendel United and clubs that reigned in the 70's and 80's, were they in the north? |
