Philanthropist and founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates on Wednesday congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his re-election.

Speaking in a telephone call, Bill Gates said he was happy to be associated with the Nigerian President.

He also restated his commitment to the success of the administration as well as the progress, prosperity and well-being of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Gates expressed willingness to do more for the country.

Also speaking, President Buhari reiterated his belief that Gates’ wealth has benefited Nigeria’s development, and expressed appreciation for the call.

Buhari commended Bill Gates for his consistent and generous support to public causes around the globe, and specifically for supporting the eradication of polio and HIV diseases in Africa and Nigeria in particular.

A statement by Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity), Garba Shehu quoted him as saying “I am very happy the way your projects have touched the life of the average Nigerian.

“The people of this country have given their verdict.”

No matter what anybody says or does, I will never give up on this country. Even if I'm shot and killed by a corrupt SARs officer tomorrow, I will be at peace for my little contributions in making the lives of those around me better. Dangote, Ifeanyi Uba, Otedola and other billionaires should take cues from Bill Gates. This guy has donated more than half of his net worth in discovering cures for HIV and malaria; paying for vaccines for polio, measles etc. Had it been Bill Gates did not donate more than 50% of his wealth, he will still remain the richest man in the world, but even at that, he's still amongst the top 3 richest people in the world and he has sworn to donate even more. It's good to recognize great people who will one day be remembered by several generations later. I will always remember that in 1994 Rashidi Yekini became the first Nigerian to score in the World Cup where we defeated Bulgaria 3-0.
Where them play this rashidi match, I need to watch it abeg grin

Such a pity, he couldn't understand a single word from Bill Gate.

Just ended the call by saying "thanks You Sir". Very unprofessional.

Just shaking my head. Osibade should have been the one to take the call. Now the country just lost a great opportunity to strike a deal with Bill Gate due to one man.

But Ameachi knows that this will end up this way and still refuse to advise Osibade since he knows that the other man doesn't listen.
