What is the meaning of humility? That is what Rohr showed with his comment. If a player gets demoralized by such comments then he doesn't deserve to be a professional.

But back to my question. Name a successful coach that goes into tournaments saying his team will win?
I disagree...what Rohr showed is cowardice and not humility.
It does it every time.... I understand that you sometimes play mind games...but take a cursory look at rohr words prior every tournament and match...especially friendlies prior the world cup. ...you will see fear all over it. just looking for a safe landing.
you should go into every battle with confidence and the determination to win

And what do you guys expect him to say?

Would u rather he goes about bragging that we are favorites to win it? Which coach does that?

He might say this to the public but I can bet what he says to his boys would definitely be different.

U guys need to understand how these coaches reason.
"I am very optimistic about my team's chances in this tourney. My crew and I are working hard to ensure a good outing. We have learnt from our mistakes in past competitions and will try to do better this time. I really believe we will make Nigerians proud".

Will Rohr die if he says this before a tournament?. Must it be pessimism and unambitiousness all the time?. For Chrissakes we are currently rated THIRD in Africa. Is the AFCON trophy too much to expect from a team rated third on the continent?.

Tackles is q specific attribute that is measured in isolation not in unison with other attributes.

In this regard they are not the same. For instance interceptions are about anticipation and reading the game. Once you have intercepted yoi will not need to tackle because you have taken possession of the ball.

You will find Ngolo Kante is measured on interceptions as a specific component not as a holistic one. Interceptions break up play.

But Ngolo then creates a new dimension by turning interceptions into offensive play and changing the whole game dynamics.

That's why Ngolo Kante is World class he brings not just tackles, but interceptions and in addition he adds offensive delivery to the game.

Ndidi has not got to that level yet but he is progressing well, Rome was not built in a day. Give him time he is still young.
Ndidi is currently 6th in the league for interceptions. He is no slouch when it comes to interceptions. Currently ahead of Kante by the way.

Bros, that is the way you will choose to put it.

Coaches play the mind game a lot. We should learn to read deep meanings into their comments. grin

So 2 Guinea under 17 players allegedly played for Guinea under 17 in 2017 in an international tournament held in Japan. They allegedly used different ages in their passports when compared to their passports in the 2019 under 17 AFCON. Looks like they have reduced their ages by a year or 2. Morocco and Senegal have filed a complaint with CAF.

The players are Ahmed Tidiane Keita and Aboubacar Conte

Could not cut it but was making appearances under every coach? Is that what you call not cutting it?

That same club has gone on record kicking themselves for disrespecting his talent. He even scored against them if I am not mistaken.

Solanke couldn't make it in Liverpool and he is not making it in Bournemouth so what's your point?

Call it hype if you want but my record will always speak for itself. I might not be a scout but I know talent and what it takes to harness is.
What has Solanke got to with anythinghuh ❓ of what relevance is Solanke to this discussionhuhhuh

You said Osimhen is the best young striker in Europe not me. And l simply said that is OVER HYPE.

Kante is now playing a more forward role for Chelsea.

But last season and the seasons before in that DM role he set the benchmark and redefined the role to another level.

I don't know what your point is? ❓

i think it's the height of extreme prejudice to declare that osimhen couldn't cut it at wolfsburg. a lot of factors eg. injuries, lack of a steady manager, adjustment time etc added to his inability to hit the ground running. remember this is an african kid with no formal football training compared to his mates in europe being thrown into the deep end and asked to swim. if his mates like solanke who have always had access to world class facilities are struggling to perform i will most definitely cut an osimhen who just moved to europe 3 years ago some slack.

whether it's brugge or somewhere else the fact of the matter is that victor is doing well. onyekuru played for relegation candidates eupen his excellent performances for them got him a move to everton. likewise victor's good performances have also attracted suitors ac milan and co have shown interest meaning he's doing something well.

is he the best young forward in europe maybe not but has done enough to generate interest? most definitely
What on earth has Solanke got to do with thus discussionhuh ❓ He doesn't play for Nigeria probably never will. So what relevance is Solanke here.

In football extenuating circumstances are NO EXCUSE, your personal circumstances and or deficiencies don't change your season.

Putting in top class outstanding performances does.

All players generate interest but until the contract is signed sealed and delivered interest in this context is just wind and fresh air.

If a club wants you they pay to get you, it's very SIMPLE.

Victor is doing well but so are hundreds of other players just like him.

Sorry you said Liverpool to Bournemouth and I couldn't help myself grin

Calling it hype will not help your case. What you can do is name a better striker in his age bracket. The lad is almost single handedly dragging his team into the Europa league. Keep in mind that this is a club that looked a sure relegation candidate before he arrived.

Does that change the fact on ground? Juventus also went on relegation but it doesn't change the fact that they were former UEFA champions. Does it?
That changes everything. How can you be living on past glory? You are effectively talking about Nottingham forest? How does that mean the EPL is a good league?

When I told you to watch out for Victor this season you said it was impossible but now you are making more excuses. Put this boy in any league and give him a chance he will deliver. A natural born winner and a true leader of men. Victor Osimhen has the it factor.

The best young striker in Europe. Take this comment to any bank you want and tell them I sent you cool
You know you will be arrested if you go to the bank with that statement

I want to talk on the matter of rohr s cowardice.
This football.it is not all about what happens on the pitch but what happens off the pitch influences the game in a big way.there are three stages of football which confirm who wins a match.the tactical battle ,the mind games and the football game itself.to win the football game,u have to have a strong tactics and upper hand in the mind game then the match is urs to lose. Mind games are very important in football.for example, when klopp was asked if he believed man UTD can help lfc win the league,he insulted man UTD (subtly) and doubted if man UTD was of help .
To a normal person,it may be dat klopp has lost hope of winning the title instead he is trying to lift man UTD spirit by the insult from man UTD greatest rival Liverpool.
I think rohr is simply trying to defer attention from Nigeria squad and heap pressure on the team he mentioned.it is common to see klopp and guardiloa heaping praise on the other why deflecting attention from there team.

I repeat and I repeat-only a stupid coach will be boast of his squad and heap pressure on his squad even before the tournament,so it is better to take klopp words to heart.(approach a game one at a time and don't think of the trophy to avoid stupid pressure)

why are you denying Solanke now I thought he was a starboy and flavour of the month before

ooooo you now know that extenuating circumstances are not an excuse for non-performance so why do you keep blaming the Portuguese Mafia for Dominic iorfa's poor showing at wolves?

Makalele was an unheralded hero. He was never in the spotlight till the twilight of his career. He was easily a despensible asset at Real Madrid when Perez didn't hesitate to cash in at his prime.
Such water carrier roles are exclusive reserve for lesser talented players. The game have gradually phased out one dimensional break up players like that.
This is why I think Ndidi should modify his game if he should move on to the next level.
Man city are currently looking at Rodrigo from Athletico Madrid to replace Fernandinho when world best tackler is right there at Leicester. This should tell you something.
