Makalele was an unheralded hero. He was never in the spotlight till the twilight of his career. He was easily a despensible asset at Real Madrid when Perez didn't hesitate to cash in at his prime.
Such water carrier roles are exclusive reserve for lesser talented players. The game have gradually phased out one dimensional break up players like that.
This is why I think Ndidi should modify his game if he should move on to the next level.
Man city are currently looking at Rodrigo from Athletico Madrid to replace Fernandinho when world best tackler is right there at Leicester. This should tell you something.
As much as i love pep

Do you think he really rates African players?

As far as i am concerned Rodri is not a better player than ndidi, maybe he wan turn rodri to next busquets, if he had gone for ndombele of lyon i would understand

this man is a coward..... a glorified one.
so scared..... just imagine he is already looking for excuses....even those mentioned teams are so scared of nigeria
Its not cowardice.... its more like common sense and a show of respect to the opponents... when u are heading into a fight, you don't brag about winning....

You want Rohr to proclaim to the media that the super eagles are going to conquer Africa just like that?/Sorry mate,it doesn't work like that... Good coaches don't do that...
And like oga Basco said, what the coach says to the media is different from what he tell his players...

Wait for the tournament to start then we will see wassup....

And then came Mikel who played similar to Makalele and mastered the Makalele role to the tee, went on to play for over a decade for Chelsea, one of the longest serving African players in the EPL and went on to amass multiple titles with the blues.

Ndidi should increase his opening for passes and makes sure he masters his short simple passes and he will go on to become a classy player.

Busquets mastered the simple part of the midfield role and has excelled.

As much as players learn and improve over time, we also have to admit that somethings come natural to individuals.
Busquets excells at playing out of a press,I have seen him launch attacks even when he was pressed by 2 players. I watched Rodrigo at the weekend do similar thing and immediately took notice. Wasn't surprised to hear rumors about Mancity breaking the bank to get him.
Ndidi wouldn't have spent more than a season at Leicester if he had such characteristics.

It well known in football circles that Guardiola loves Auora and Ndombele, both at Lyon. Rodrigo is just a new name on the scene.

Game week 34

La Liga

No team has been confirmed relegated yet.

Game week 31

EPL
Huddersfield relegated

Week 33

Fulham relegated.

Yet, EPL is the most competitive league

Maybe Epl is only competitive at the top of the table

Thanks to klopp and Liverpool for giving mancity a run for their money

If not for klopp and Liverpool mancity would have turn the Epl to French ligue 1

Ndidi wouldn't have spent more than a season at Leicester if he had such characteristics.
But, Busquets does not regularly bomb forward but builds up plays with intricate passing at a high rate. Either way, he is not a positional calamity and owns the defensive midfield zone.

Ndidi might not be prolific in ball skills, ball movement and passing, if he masters being the best when it comes to owning the dmf zone, he would definitely be wanted by lots of quality coaches. Coupled with improving his short build up plays, he can become a top class player for coaches who thrive with possessive plays.

Don't compare the way European players is seen to African players

Gana gueye was linked with a move to psg at the age of 29 ,Marco Silva blocked the move

Kante joined Chelsea at 26

Ndidi is still 22 ,he has not been in Leicester for 5 years ,give him time

I stand on my words ,Rodri of ATM is not a better player than him

Should I remind you that yaya toure was a better DM than busquets during pep early Barca days ?

But who coach believe in ?

it still shows how tough and unforgiven the EPL is. There is no room for mistake in the epl: without funds, sufficient squad depth and luck against injury, it can be really difficult to cope. Man city with its squad depth still finds it difficult whenever fernandinho is missing or you imagine liverpool without Salah.
