Even if the students went out of their way with the protest, it shouldn't have warrant this brutality from the police.

Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun should be stripped off that title and suspended indefinitely.
Don't they know the consequences of protesting especially in country like ours where most protests are violent?.
Weren't the students informed that they should pay their fees before exams?.

Imagine, in ABU ZARIA nobody will force you to pay or not it your choice, it is computerise there is no way you can register course without payment and if you feel wont pay and write test or exam you cant see your result. Well put the blame on the state governor, the tution fee is too much when not in private university.
The tuition fees are fair enough. Many state universities are under funded hence the high fees compare to their federal counterpart that is manageable. It is rare for state universities to be subsidized like her federal counterpart because many states are not financially buoyant. In fact they should just wind up since they can't meet up

These universities see students as cash cows. Do you know how much they receive as budget per year? It's not like the university directly pays its staff or something.
The allocation for many state universities are less than their federal counterpart. Part of the allocation goes to recurrent expenses while less are spent on capital expenditures. The fees from students are not even enough to cater for such universities hence they source from IGR

Their fees is still cheap. You know why because some state universities charge more than 150k per session in Nigeria. State universities can't be subsidized that is why university of Osun is around 300k

Good for them. Do they think education is free? In sane countries, if you forcefully defy a legal order, the police would get physical with you. So you have to respect yourself.

The students are filled with the entitlement mentality. How dare they try to protest "no payment of tuition, no test/exam"? Is the university their fathers' enterprise? How dare they? Where they expecting a university to provide services for free? SMH.
I am sure you have no idea about what is really going on in the school. The school's tuition fee was increased from 30,000 to 150, 000 because according to the state Governor "The tuition fee can not afford a good shoe".

The government does not provide constant electricity, no enough water, the loyal citizens of the states doesn't not even enjoy basic amenities even after paying taxes. Ondo state government is still owing her workers and this present Governor might never pay up the debt.
In spite of this, the government is taking the only affordable thing she has to offer away and you still feel the student are entitled?

Most of this students after gaining admission has not been able to pay because their parent/guardian(Mostly civil servant) has failed to give them money.

Tuition fee in developed countries is expensive even for an above average man but they have good standard of living even for a below average man but can same be said concerning Nigeria and Nigerians?

If you can't pay don't go to school

The students were asked to leave school, because of non-payment of fees.

They were doing strong head...

So, the authorities called in the Police.

I know you would soon chant 'corruption'...so let's lay a few facts. Universites in Nigeria are poorly funded...and the government does not have extra cash for them at all. So, fees .

If the university does not make life better for the students...then how do you expect them to provide for running costs, etc....

Sometimes, you Nigerians need to see the big picture.
I have two questions for you, do you know the rudiments of the issues and do you even attend university. For your information the students were not sent home for not paying tuition fees but rather for protesting and wether you have paid or not everybody was asked to go home. If you do the findings very well as regard the protest you will not be talking like this.

Thank you, let them continue they will surely pay. By the time those students get better alternatives , the school management will experience 'poor sales'. When will the fund come from if not the children. Just hop private schs will start getting more applicants for them to reduce their fees and shamed these overhyped advance secondary schs

Don’t think you have sense at all?
Students who once paid #28000 are now forced to pay #150000 and you’re here saying what you know nothing about!
If you want to increase school fees, there ought to be lay down of things to follow. The government increased the school fees without any options for the students
if you are not a big fo.ol, you would have know the school fees was not just increased, besides they only protested because the management refused to allow them write exam not the increment per se. I hope this confirmed your fo.olishness

Pls be informed, the state govt n d schl mgt tricked the students to pay acceptance fee, after which they now increase tuition from 25k to 150k, that was last yr. Now tell me where wl most parents who had initially budgeted 25k get 150k?
When they know they would increase fees why do they collect acceptantance fees which is non refundable.? God is watching our act oppression in this country.

Am in Nigeria. If you can't afford a state university they switch to federal. The states can't continue to subsized fees when they are not financially buoyant. It is either they scap such universities or increase their fees so as to measure up
