This guy is just wasting his talent. He should go into fiction writing, he will compete with J. K. Rawlings.

Dangote that had been dominating the sugar industry since the early 80s. Dangote entered rice around the late 80s. My friend took me to his house in dolphins estate around 1987, telling me Dangote was looking for distributors for his newly imported consignment of rice. All these were before Obasanjo ever became President.
You went To dangote's House in 1985? huh

Yes. Is that unbelievable?
I said around 87 not 85, maybe 88. It was a long time ago.

The deal was to be in collaboration with others who have the financial muscle.
So why the chest-beating?

she was an assistant director of commercials for one of the government's media parastatals, so she was dealing with coca cola and other multinational corporations at that time. She discussed with the senior management officers about supplying them sugar.

Yes ibeto is a Saint when compared to these two frauds. Ibeto had obasanjo Government with dangote trying to crush him.

Ibeto survival was based only on the diversity of his business interests. If not he would have been dead a long time ago.

Ibeto is a Saint and a hard working igbo man who doesn’t depend on government to thrive just like igbo businessmen all over Nigeria and the world.
Why silent on Ibeto alliance with GEJ? The problem with you people, when things favour your tribe , it's good government. The moment no benefit, it suddenly turns to bad government.

Why do you guys need self validation to make you feel good about yourself? You guys have the need to bring everyone else down before you can feel good about yourself.
Your quote above makes the attack on Dangote seem jealousy and envy. Lots of Igbo men get governments patronage, just like other tribes. Emeka Offor, Cosmas Maduka and a few other igbo businessmen had received favours from governments in the past.

How many igbo saint businessmen are thriving all over the world? Name them.
Ignore that little boy.

I was just providing a rough outline of my interaction or knowledge of what I knew of Dangote to debunk the idea that he suddenly made his money through governments patronage. I did not go into details.

My going to Dangote's house with my friend had nothing to do with business. My friend who is hausa has some family connections to Dangote, so he went to see him on personal issues. I did not even get to see the man, he was called into the inner room for discussions. It was when we were driving home my friend told me what they discussed and that he brought in shiploads of rice and was looking for distributors.

I lived in Ikoyi and V/I for over 20 years, I have interacted one way or the other with some influential people.

This part of the tale is confusing;

What kind of powder was Dangote dealing with, talcum powered or yam flour before he moved to the US? And did he continued to deal in powder in the US?

The story did not also elaborate on the kind of consignment intercepted by US authorities? Was it powder?
According to the story, Dangote is a fugitive in the US and his brother Sani Gote, who took the fall for him is in prison?
powder = cocaine. i guess.. cool

Yar Adua is the only president Nigeria has ever had since 1999.
All others are scammers, liars and fraudsters, the worst sitting on the throne now.
Yar Adua had his shortcomings,I believe caused by his failing health, but he was honest to a fault, intelligent and decisive when you brought facts before him.If his health had allowed I believe Yaradua would have dealth with the cabal that were wielding power behind his back while he was battling for his life.
I remember how he dealth with these 2 fraudulent billionaires who to me are basically money launderers that got fraudulent money through all kinds of schemes and used it to finance and prop up businesses, which in the public eye,now made it seem they were intelligent businessmen.

Dangote did not quickly become a behemoth, just say people only suddenly started nothing him. Around 1985, my mum wanted to supply coca cola with sugar. They told her Dangote supplies them all their sugar and that they would take from her if she can beat Dangote's price. Now, imagine been the supplier of coca cola for decades. And I am sure he was the sole supplier of sugar for Pepsi and other soft drink companies also. This was way before he went into packing sugar in small retail bags for the public.
Your mum could have be able to compete with him on the supply of low price sugar to those companies ( only) if she had enjoyed import waiver from the government
.

Why the need for this comparison?

Why do you people feel the need to compare yourself, your own Businessmen, Artists or even ethnic group with others in other to feel fulfilled?

The bolded quote describe 90% of Nigerian so called billionaires. Most of them can't survive without scamming the country one way or the other.

The 80s and powder story is bullshit. Yes, agreed Dan Dangote got special privileges from subsequent governments, but my admiration for him is his ability to maximize these privileges and survive every government to grow his business. Believe me, he was not the only one that got special privileges from government, people like MKO Abiola (of blessed memory ), Chief Gabriel Igbenedion, Arthur Nzeribe, Hakeem Bello Osagie, Even the Vaswani brothers, got special privileges, but he was the most successful in his use of special privileges.

It's like saying that we should not respect Tony Elumelu for the special privileges he enjoyed in the Standard Trust Bank - UBA merger, which handed him the majority shares of UBA, when Hakeem Bello Osagie messed up when handed the same privilege.

In otherwords majority are basically money launderers and in Nigeria where laws are as lax as a basket, once you legitimize your originally dubious source of wealth, you are holy, become a source of inspiration and motivator for upcoming businessmen and women.

May God bless Yar'adua even in the grave. I can still remember vividly how he was set to deal severely with those two fraudulent business men and their likes before he died. They quickly came back with full force immediately Goodluck took over power. President Yardua was the true man of integrity and most patriotic President by miles. Even those indicted or accused of corruption in his government, not yet proven o, he ordered them to resign e.g Health Minister, Adenike Grange.

Each time I tried to say something about how fraudulent Femi Otedola is, it is either I'm attacked or it got deleted entirely here

Gbam.

Nigeria is the only place we see billionaires and millionaires without knowing their sources of wealth.

The sad part is that the people and society in general promote and encourage dubious sources of wealth. How many times have you heard testimony in churches of someone becoming a millionaire overnight without any explanation and every other person claiming the "blessing". How many people of dubious wealth are being given chieftaincy titles and awards up and down? Are those not inspiration for the up and coming generations?
