They quickly came back with full force immediately Goodluck took over power. President Yardua was the true man of integrity and most patriotic President by miles. Even those indicted or accused of corruption in his government, not yet proven o, he ordered them to resign e.g Health Minister, Adenike Grange.

Each time I tried to say something about how fraudulent Femi Otedola is, it is either I'm attacked or it got deleted entirely here

I am even shocked someone is comparing Otedola with Dangote. No one knows how Otedola made his billions (that is even if he is worth billions).

I am not one of those that believes he started from no where. He had his own businesses just like so many others before government started giving him special favors. This is what ended up separating him from the rest. Not because he is smarter than the average businessman or any other manufactured attributes about him.

If Nigerian Government had supported your Mom the way dangote was supported, she too will be a billionaire or at least a multi-millionaire. I am sure she is a very smart woman.

You guys should even give kudos and respect to Dangote. He never at any time practiced polygamy even though he is a Muslim. He divorced the first wife before taking on to a second one. He never had any child outside wedlock. If it was others that have the amount of money Dangote has, they would plant their seed in every local government in Nigeria.
The same people hating on Dangote for marrying and divorcing 2 wives are the same people calling Atiku a messiah.

One of the many ways he makes his dubious money is through the fraudulent fuel subsidy regime the government is currently running. They will import let's say, 20 metric tons of fuel but would write 50 and collect subsidy money for 50 running into several millions of dollars.

Anyone who believes Nigeria is consuming 55 million litres of gasoline daily needs to have his head examined. They inflate the figures to collect subsidy money from the Federal Government. They work in consonance with those in NNPC, DPR, PPPRA, etc to defraud the government but sadly, the current government is dumb

No crony capitalism is different from getting govt to your side. All capitalist economies have intense lobbying for govt ease of doing business that is different of govt patronage and vested interests!

Even at that, the end result of lobbying benefits sectors of the economy which the lobbyist are interested in. Its rare in developed democracies to see government make rules just for specific individual or individuals.

Imagine there are 20 people selling cement, then government makes special rule that benefits only 1 individual out of the 20 and kill the remaining 19 because of the advantage the government gave to that 1 individual. This is the problem with Dangote.

Sorry to say, but you do not understand the characteristics of strict capitalism. It is socialism that attempts to level wealth disparity by trying to discourage monopoly by a few wealthy individuals. Capitalism makes attempt at this by taxing the wealthy more and enacting strong anti trust laws. Even at that, capitalism is struggling to rein in the few powerful rich. How do you think Jeff Bezos was able to amass close to $200 billion in less than 2 decades. What about Facebook and Microsoft, European and US governments had been trying to rein them in and not kill competition by various fines and punishments, but to no avail.

People like Dangote use their huge pockets and size to stifle completion. It's a classic business strategy which even China employs to kill smaller businesses. DSTV employed it to kill local cable channels. Because of the economies of scale, no one in Nigeria, if not Africa can compete with Dangote in terms of Cement, Sugar and Salt. When cement became very expensive during the obasanjo regime and it made his government look bad, Obasanjo simply appealed to Dangote to reduce price and cement fell from N2,800 to N1,500.
I agree it is dangerous to allow one man control so much of the economy, but what can we do, when our national assembly is only interested in constituency projects, instead of enacting anti trust laws. By the time Dangote refinery is operational, we will depend solely on one man for our lives, ie energy, food and home (cement).

Dangote that had been dominating the sugar industry since the early 80s. Dangote entered rice around the late 80s. My friend took me to his house in dolphins estate around 1987, telling me Dangote was looking for distributors for his newly imported consignment of rice. All these were before Obasanjo ever became President.

What kind of powder was Dangote dealing with, talcum powered or yam flour before he moved to the US? And did he continued to deal in powder in the US?

The story did not also elaborate on the kind of consignment intercepted by US authorities? Was it powder?
According to the story, Dangote is a fugitive in the US and his brother Sani Gote, who took the fall for him is in prison?
