Not necessarily, at the emboldened. I think you should understand why 'it had to be Valyrian Steel' and not even Dragon Glass or just any metal.

Valyrian Steel are supposedly forged with Dragon Fire, according to legend. Every Valyrian Steel is said to contain magic spells, giving it magical characteristics. Besides, most typical swords can comfortably pierce through armours, depending on how it is forged, the type of armour and all.

So regardless of how huge or little the steel is, it still carries the same power as the other forged Valyrian Steel. One could even argue that the Night King's knowledge of Jon being in possession of the Steel was what made him reanimate fresh bodies in order to defending himself. The Night King saw the power of the steel in the previous season.

The steel is not just rare because Valyria not longer existed. The argument would be the number of Dragons available, spell casters to fuse the spell and the Dragon fire in order to forge to steel.

An armour wouldn't have been able to stop the power of the steel.

Valyrian steel is rare because Valyria no longer exists. Valyria was the only place Valyrian steel was made. The clue is in it's name.

There were Dragons in king's landing at one point. There were mages too. I have not heard of kingslanding steel or astapor steel before.

And if you were truly paying close attention, you'll notice Viserion was badly wounded by Drogon, when the NK was about spearing Rhaegal, and you'll also observe that it's spitting fire wasn't inconsistent like when having hiccups, and it's chest was also kinda leaking the blue flame.

Y'all be looking for excuses here ant there to bring down the episode.
So, you're saying, when a laser-spitting dragon is wounded, its flames become so impotent they have nothing on a piece of rock?

It's a pity someone liked this post.

If Valyrian steel can harm Nk. . . .why can't Dragon fire.
I mean Valyrian steel is special cause it's forged in the breath of Dragon fire so. . .?
Valyrian Steel are not only forged with Dragon Fire but also with spells which makes them unique; a different kind of fire and some grains of spells. If you observed the previous season closely, the NK didn't 'resist the Dragon Fire, rather his powers put out the fire while he walked through the fire path.

During the war council meeting in the second episode of this very season, Arya asked if Dragon Fire could kill the NK and someone responded saying he/she wasn't sure, and that was the truth. Had Dany known the fire would have no effect on him, I believe she wouldn't have risked her life going close to Dracarys his ass.

Valyrian steels have always been a blend of fierce fire and magic, and not just the fire alone.

Lol, the primary focus has always been Bran, did you even watch when they were strategising about how to defend winterfell?

Sam asked why the night king wanted him dead, and bran replied saying, he wants to erase the memory of the world, and he is the memory Roth past and present.

Always watch with subtitles if you really if you really can't comprehend.

Does the NK have to kill Bran personally to do the eraser thing or he needed Bran's brain unabashed?

Sorry for quoting you.

You quoted me to tell me that wights are dead and cant feel, so if you spear one, 3 others rush and stab you. Duh!

Was there any particular insight hidden in your post or am i missing something here?

However, If you want to be passive-aggressive, that's fine, keep it moving then.

If after all this fight and Sansa is insisting the north won't bow to Danny, then I will kill Sansa myself. I hate nonsense. She was in the crept while Danny was risking her life.
So, Sansa has been stripped of the right to fight for the North's sovereignty, simply because Dany fought for survival?

It was not time for Melisandre to "retire" and not that easily. She would have been handy in the next fight, after which, we will sit and decide if she would live or die.

Arya!

The music began playing when she started her fight with the wights, shows how this season revolves around her, see where she even had to order the lady of winterfell to the crypt, "Lady" Sansa obeyed without so much of a resistance, she should have died..what use is she anyways!?

Watching the three dragons brawl was an interesting scene too, you can't have three dragons without riders, a boring sight that is.

The night walker not being burnt by dragon fire deserved an applaud (would have been the case if watched in the cinemas)

And how the stubborn wights fell head on into the fire to create a walkway was laughable, they just started falling in till they created a passage.

Theon!

He died like I expected him to...brazen-faced.

Sansa isn't going to miss you much theon, she is already on to the next!

The night king was the one that quench the fire on the dragon so create s little passage for them.

I mean, in the build up to the war, they all agreed to lure the night king to where Bran was so they could take him out... But i didn't see any strategy to that effect. Every of the leading fighters and their team seemed concentrated on the walls...
I know Theon and his team was to defend, but i was hoping there'd be an ambushment sort of.. Lying in wait for the NK.
they only talked about bringing him to the open, the didn't give the details. Probably to kill him with dragonfire, but that didn't work.

That's what they intended doing, burning him with dragonfire, but even if the plan worked, they'll still fail, cos fire doesn't work on him.

That's what the producers wanted us to see, they even said it in the credits too.

What's there to decode? Did the wound reduce the flame's potency? Yes or no.

Great episode until the Night King was killed by Arya. Death was too easy for the NK in my opinion. An experienced fighter like NK could not see that move by Arya?

Well it has to end sha. The show that is.

If Arya wore the face of bran and pulled that stunt I would have been more impressed than jumping out of nowhere to kill death himself.

Please no. That was not Tywin's Just War. He did it for Revenge.

"She thought so," Prince Oberyn agreed,
"but your father is not a man to forget
such slights. He taught that lesson to
Lord and Lady Tarbeck once, and to the
Reynes of Castamere. And at King's
Landing, he taught it to my sister."

Stop making him into some anti-hero, 'woe is me' character.

At the end he presented the bodies to Robert, joining his side.

Please send me the link to episode 2 and 3. Thanks

To those claiming the Night King died easy, you all forget he wasn't the centre of the story in the first place. As a matter of fact, he qualifies more as the foil character of Bran and he very well projected that right from the latter part of season 7.

The newly released episode would go down as one of the best fight scenes in any movie. The palpable tension that lasted for over five minutes at the very start of the episode, the seeming fear that leaked out of the screen directly to fans and viewers all over the world, owing to the unpredictable nature of the series; who would die and who wouldn't, the long minutes spent on unspoken words, etc.

It was obvious the living had a plan and it failed woefully as the Night King took advantage of the hour of the battle (night) and the snowy condition of Winterfell. He clearly had his own plans and being in his element, he was clearly unstoppable. The Night King's Snowstorm distablized the 2-1 dragon fight Dany and Jon had planned and assisted in cushioning the damage he would have suffered.

While he has been known to be ruthless, nowhere was it revealed that Night King was good at close, hand-to-hand combat and HBO made sure no one thought about this, let alone think of this as a weakness.

His generals had close combats in the 7th season against the likes of Jon and the Wildlings and they fought well and I believe it made many believe the Night King would be more of a better fight knowing that he turned them.

The focus of the season and the show is on who gets the Iron Throne and rules the 7 kingdoms and not on the dead and the living. I have always thought a prequel would be a good idea; a prequel detailing the life of the Children and the First Men but with how HBO quickly turned away from the Night King, it is obvious the climax hasn't even arrived yet. This is a 13-episode season and the Night King has been laid to rest in just episode 3, meaning the next 10 is where the climax is laced.

The Night King has always been lazy and a discerning viewer would have seen this. His strength is in reanimation and turning the reanimated against the living/ nothing more. If anyone was expecting a Thanos vs MCU-without Gauntlet-war, then you are better off seeing Endgame.

There is the subliminal message of last week in Podrick's 'Jenny's Song' and it has been attributed to Dany and Jon (and she never wanted to leave), today's hint at Sansa and Tyrion's supposed 'rekindled' relationship and the view of the former on how Tyrion's loyalty would be divided between Dany, her Queen and her, his wife.

For all it's worth, there are still many twists and turns in this show. The Night King was never supposed to take centre stage. Everyone feared him and paid more attention to him when he speared one of Dany's dragons from the sky. Take away his excellent throwing ability and his scary reanimation strength and we are left with Frozone/Blizzard/Sub-Zero/Elsa of Disney/Mr Freeze/Killer Frost.

Villains have fans and despite knowing they would go down, people expect a Thanos kind of outro for the Night King. If anyone feels the writers are horrible, a better suggestion would be to wait till the end of the show before giving a final verdict.
There are only 6 episodes in this season

Your argument sometimes weaken my spirit. Do we say something is rare because its origin or makers are now defunct or we say it is rare based on how many of such things are in circulation? Of course it is the latter!

Should we assume Steels or blades weren't forged in King's Landing just because we never heard of it for once? No nau! Gendry was an apprentice blacksmith in King's Landing before Ser Davos came for him. Why we prolly never hear/heard of King's Landing steel is because it was unrenowned and not different from the regular steel, nothing special about it. Even Jamie who is from King's Landing wields a Valyrian Steel.

The scarcity of Valyrian Steel is why it went on to become a mark of affluence for Houses/individuals who owns one. Recall Tarly stole his family's and handed it to Jorah. Jon and Arya had shown each other theirs in the previous episode. Gendry passed a major comment about the steel after Arya showed him in the previous episode at the forges (I knew you weren't just amy rich girl (sic)).

That Valyrians made their steels with Dragon Fire and Magic doesn't mean others must do the same. Asgard clearly had their own Blacksmiths and so did other realms but Thor insisted on Nidavellir because the dwarves there made his hammer from the core of a dying star, which in itself is magical.

Valyrian steel is rare, not just because Valyria is no longer in existence but because the steel in itself is owned by only a handful of families/individuals and they are not even up to 10.

GRRM: Valyrian steel was always costly, but it became considerably more so when there was no more Valyria, and the secret of its making were lost.
