A doctor identified as James Negedu, has been remanded in prison over a corps member's death in Lafia area of Nasarawa State. The member of the National Youth Service Corps, Pascaline Madueke, served in Adogi, Lafia East Development area of the state, and reportedly lost her life following a surgical operation at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia.

The deceased who complained of headache, abdominal pain and malaria, was rushed to a private clinic for treatment, before she was referred to the specialist hospital where she died. Her uncle, one Ndubuisi, brought her to his clinic on January 18, adding that Madueke complained of headache, abdominal pain, typhoid, malaria and general body pain.However, Pascaline's ailment worsened even after given drugs at the hospital, as it was learnt that a scan revealed that she had a pelvic inflammatory disease, as well as a five-month-old dead foetus in her womb.

The Doctor who was remanded in Lafia prison after the corps member's death, maintained that he referred the corps member to another hospital because he could no longer manage her. He said, “The doctor that carried out the operation on her has been moving freely without any arrest and prosecution. Why should I be detained for referring her to a government hospital?”

However the Nasarawa State NYSC Coordinator, Zainab Isa, said Madueke died after a surgery, adding that she did not know the cause of her death.According to the State NYSC coordinator, the case was reported to the Department of State Services, Nasarawa State Command, and the Nigeria Police Force, who investigated the incident.

Probably had Incomplete abortion and the foetus didn't get properly expelled or it kept growing and died later due to repeated procedure. A scan would have confirmed this and necessary procedures carried out to expel it if the girl had opened up to her carers or the docs.

the lesson other young women can take from this is the need to speak up when in complicated situations. it is better to be alive and be scorned by family for a little while than to keep mum for fear of conflict, only to lose your womb or even your life in the end.

Parents too need to stop being too hard on their children and accept the fact that the times are changing and in these days and time, teenage pregnancies are sometimes inevitable.

Where are the lab results showing all the diagnosis The Dr that conducted the surgery should be arrested too. Though. she died due to septicaemia from d dead foetus, and endometritis or pyometra.

I lost my younger brother recently at NYSC camp, plateau state. 2019 BATCH A. NYSC official told us that the guy complaint of malarial and they gave him drip. and the guy later die on the same day. is that possible?. i spoke with my brother b4 they said the guy complaint of malarial and he did not complaint anything to me.
we will be glad if we can see any corp member 2019 batch A, plateau state that can provide us full details of the causes of his death.

Poor done abortion and it consequences, probably drank something that killed the fetus but it was too late, 2nd trimester now to expel fetus became an issue and Nigeria's 3rd rate surplus doctors hastened her to her death
