FloraEC:

Nla or eela I believe is baby rash. Mama's here advised using one flower like that for it(have forgotten the name)
Ọbọ is a boil that spreads when it burst and the water touch another dry area of the skin. You can use methylated spirit to burst the boil and clean the surface to avoid spreading. Apply baby tribotan or sudocrem or any other baby friendly products.
Thanks alot ma

Knowing the English name is not as important as going to see a doctor about it. You can even ask a doctor am sure he/she would know the English word for it after seeing the skin reaction.

But I said thank you in advance. No vex ma. Thank you xlmillion.
Anyway your answer was irrelevant. You would have passed if you don't have a better answer. I know the way to hospital but I needed answer from experienced mummies

quote author=zaynie post=77954799]

1. You don't actually have to wash his hair every day. Every 2 days is just fine. Run water through the hair and comb immediately out of that bathroom

2. If you have to then you may want to buy a wash cap.
I had some in stock last week but I'm not sure I have them again. I'll attach a picture. It helps to protect the eyes, nose, mouth and even ears when washing hair with shampoo or soap. It is N500

3. You can decide to wash the hair the way I wash my baby's hair. Lay the child acroos your laps with face up and gently pour water from front to back. Distract baby by singing or making funny noises.
I don't like face down cos sometimes the water overwhelms them and they gasp for breath.
As long as the navel is not smelling just use hot water.not tooooo hot ooh.let whoever is batting him massage the navel with hot water for say 2 to 3 mins before bathing. also use a towel and be dropping the water in the navel it would soften it. Then clean with spirit every 2 hours.remember to wash your hands before doing it.he would cry cos the inside is still fresh but just continue and everything would be ok. It and make it fall.it worked for me.i hope I was able to explain well.

Hello Mothers,
Has anyone ever experienced of heard of Microfilaria in a 10 mths old, and how it was managed.
The baby-sitter I brought had this Microfilaria (The blood tests I did, before letting her into my home did not reveal this).
It is said to be like an infection of tiny worms swimming in the blood, and causing severe itching. Especially at night.
I sent her home to treat herself immediately I found out after a failed attempt to treat her from scratching body, and then my baby started to fall ill frequently. Against the doctor's advice, I went for a lab test on her, and Microfilaria was found.
It causes her to itch severely, and a rash that is spreading from her armpit to her stomach, thighs, legs and hands.
The hospital I use opened up that they do not know what to administer, I left there and went to another one; they administered a combination drug Albendazole and DEC (FOR 14 DAYS).
This is the third day, and the rash/itching seem to be increasing.
I just hope I can find some form of head way here.
So sorry dear, you have to be patient with the drugs, try calamine lotion or benzyl benzoate for the itching. Rub on the skin only.
Benzyl benzoate is hot, please don't apply to baby genitals.
Use izal to clean beddings and separate the infant's clothes from the rest of house,to prevent cross infection.
Good luck.

What I did was to change the brand of spirit,I was using.
Reduce the amount of water touching the cord.
Clean frequently still, and exposing the stump to natural air,sun rays in the house.
I think the doctors treat it as an issue when it has not fallen by 6 weeks.

There's no Federal High Court at Ikeja, only a State High Court. Anybody who doesn't want to to scammed should just walk INTO the Court premises and ask for the Court registry. When you get to the registry u can then ask for where to sign oath.
sis I said e.g in my response now. I wasn't specific. If you know better you should have just responded to her question.

Yeah the fruit thingy..And I also stopped eating yam, bread and other pastries for now.. Thanks sis

That flaws my theory then grin. Its actually an issue especially since it's daily. What did you change your diet to? People usually recommend eating more fruits and vegetables, esp pawpaw. And forsaking bread and other flour-based products.

@Beatiegirl, to add to this, if you're gonna get benzyl benzoate, also make sure it doesn't get to the baby's eyes. This includes baby scratching her body then touching her eyes. That thing is a beatch in the eyes. Better still, just use calamine lotion.

#Long post# Good day sabi mamas. Pleaaaaaase I need sincere opinion. Am in a fix right now and am worried.
My story
We have an adopted daughter who is five years old . We adopted her since 2yrs 11months( Hubby's younger sister's first child. Hubby's sister is late). She has been staying with us since then but travels during holidays to her paternal or maternal grandparents. The biological father also picks her up at times till we stop him because he picked her before holiday. So we had an agreement that she'll always go to them for holidays so that it won't be like we're keeping their child away from them(note: We waited for 7years before we had our baby who is four months old now, gave birth to her on xmas day). To my main issue now. She just got back from her break to her grandparents houses on Sunday and as usual she's always playing with her sister. So two days ago, I was in the bedroom and I heard my four months old making funny noise like she was feeling discomfort, getting there, my adopted daughter was seriously pulling her breast and squeezing it which I told her immediately that, that's not how to play with a baby. That she should sing rhymes for her. The next day, I was in the kitchen when I heard that same funny sound , getting there I saw my adopted daughter laying on my her sister halfway (resting her weight on her) and vigorously sucking my baby's breast with so much concentration that she didn't hear me coming. I was speechless. I scolded ( not beating) her but later I explained to her why she can't do that to her sister.
My concerns now are:
*Am I over reacting?
*Hope she's not been abused?
*How do I correct her so as not to make impression that am separating her from her sister because I wouldn't want her to feel jealous or hatred for her sister and above all I don't want to discriminate but am scared to leave my baby with her alone for a second. Please what do I do?
* Am seriously tempted to never send her to her grandparents houses again cos they live in an environment where children are allowed to wander on their own. Buy I don't want to create family drama.

no you are not[b:

Q
*Hope she's not been abused?

someone has likely been touching that girl in a way they he should not.

*How do I correct her so as not to make impression that am separating her from her sister because I wouldn't want her to feel jealous or hatred for her sister and above all I don't want to discriminate but am scared to leave my baby with her alone for a second. Please what do I do?

Pls start asking her questions. I want to believe you just noticed this when she came back this last time from her grandparents, but I want you to pause a bit and think back if there have been others since that you overlooked before now.
Since she has stayed with you for a while, you should know how to get answers from her.

But I don't want to create family drama.

If someone has been touching that girl Pls don't be afraid of family drama o, especially since the girl is staying with you.
Carry your husband along. Let him know your discoveries so that both of you would know how to address the issue

No you're not overreacting, you're doing your job as a mom.
Yes she has been abused maybe by a female her age or older. Talk to her and she'll open up.
You can discuss that with your hubby, get a strong evidence maybe a video record cos this is a very delicate issue. You will surely create family drama even amebo outsiders will put mouth, they'll tell you cos God finally blessed you, you're now looking for how to chase another person child out, if she's your child won't you forgive. Maybe she was tickling baby.
Allow your husband to handle the situation, if it doesn't favor, fight your battle in anyway possible.

I don't think you're over reacting
If you're scared that she might have been abused, then you should ask her questions playfully, if anyone touches her on her privates.
You can also examine her privates if she feels any form of discomfort.

Please try and be very vigilant when she's with baby, she might have been playing with her innocently. She probably doesn't know how to play with baby yet.
Mamas with older babies will chook mouth so we know if it's normal or not
