Any economical value in Borno?
They have set up a factory to produce Solar panels locally in Nigeria, plus they provide a good chunk of agricultural produce for the nation.

How come North have 3 international airport and East have only one?
Are you comparing the North (19 states plus FCT making it 20 states) to the south east (5 states) which of the east self? South east or north east. Cos you just wrote East. Or do you mean old Eastern region?

Even if we make assumptions for Lagos, Abuja and Kano, does Kaduna also have more travellers to China than Enugu?
It all part of the game 'dont give them(ibos) opportunity, the fear. There is no assumption here. We have seen them in all aspect of Nigeria, seaport etc.
The hate is real

I wonder if a former aviation boss speaks this way why won't normal people react worsehuh

Ethiopian doesn't fly Kaduna again( somits either an old or false price)

Then... Ethiopian doesn't fly from Enugu daily.... And on such flight this man should have given us the fare mask(breakdown)

Enugu flight is always hardly filled but it's still same cost of running to fly to Addis...

Wonder again what he did during his days at the aviation industry.... Just confusing innocent people if Enugu

I'm not surprised this kind of statement is coming from a former Minister of the Federal Republic, afterall it is the worst of the worst minds that make in into power in Nigeria.

Conduct this experiment: Lagos - Toronto vs. Lagos to Calgary. Same country, but observe the huge price difference. This gentleman does not understand the simple explanation that it is cheaper to fly to a city that serves as a hub to other destinations. Flying into Atlanta or New York is cheaper than flying into say, Sacramento. The reverse is the same because the airline has to factor in the cost of landing somewhere else before leaving for the final destination. Like it or not, Enugu international airport is not a major hub at the moment, and there's no one to say that cannot change in a few years.

This ill-informed charlatans are bent on stoking the coals of ethnic tension to satisfy their desire to rule and further divide an already broken country. To his mentally blindfolded supporters, I offer my heartfelt condolences on the death of common sense.
Bless you bro.

It's exactly the same reason (on the local scene) that flights to and from places like Yenogoa, Ilorin, Sokoto, Asaba, Enugu etc are more expensive.
This has nothing to do with tribe! Don't let someone fan the embers of discord amongst us.

Things an airline put into consideration before fixing fees:
1. Viability of the route
2. Fuel (how much fuel is burnt and where to refill)
3. Airport amenities and parking, airport charges and airport facilities i.e IFR landing aids, operating hours, weather... And size of runway (the size of the runway will determine what aircraft can land and takeoff from there... Bigger planes are usually cheaper, cause they carry more people at a time... Imagine why a molue/luxury bus will usually be cheaper than a regular bus going to the same destination) .
4. All airplanes according to FAA/NCAA rules must have enough fuel to fly to its destination, hold for 30 mins (in case of an issue) and still have enough fuel to fly to an alternate airport in case it can't land there.

Lagos is a major hub in West Africa and you easily have access to most facilities you need as an air carrier. So you should expect flights from Lagos to be cheaper in most cases.
Abuja is the next major hub in Nigeria (especially as its the capital city) surrounding "international" airports (Kano & Kaduna) enjoy that benefits as planes can easily get access to facilities not available in these airports).

Enugu is not a high traffic point so you don't expect an aircraft to pickup only 10 people and fly to China.... They'll have to do some hopping (with stops in-between), probably pick up passengers from Enugu, take them to Lagos for an overlay and then load it up from Lagos and proceed to China.

1. For those who say it's the Igbos that travel most to China, your correct, but I'll like to ask... FROM WHERE DO THEY TRAVEL FROM MOST? Most of them have most of their businesses in the southwest and in the North and will most likely travel from where the business is stationed... Will I now as an igbo man, want to go to China and then I'll deck up and carry all my bags and then first travel to Enugu because I'm an Igbo man and I am patriotic... It makes no economic sense.

2. For those saying the north has the most international Airports... Please check your records again.

The tribal sentinents being whipped up are so unnecessary. I believe Mr. Chidoka who was a one time minister of Aviation should be in the best position to answer his question. These flights disparity didn't happen today... It has been dictated even before he was born by economics of scale.

Let's think thorough what we say, and post online... We might not have control over the ripple effect.

Cashingout:
They will leave the question and start attacking the man probably because of his tribe
It's more expensive because of distance, rotation, and volume if pax.

Lagos to NYC is not the same fare as Lagos to South Carolina.
Should they be the same because they are both USA?

The airline simply added the cost of local flight to it's fare. 35k, and it's a return ticket

Quick question: how many of us have actually checked and confirmed these prices?? Go to Ethiopian Air's website... I just think this statement of Chidoka is quite inciting. Do an average and you'll see how much of a difference we're even talking about.
Air fare are not eveb static to start with so this cannot even be taken as fact.

Don't blame him too much. This is just a reflection of helplessness of many in the executive arm of govt.

My only argument is, the distance and time coupled with the location of the airport makes the irregularities in traveling fees...
