A BASKET OF ROSE

Can joy come like a bird or wind that
Blows across the mind to heal my wounded heart?

Would my plight find solace only in agony
Or tremble at night when the lights are out?

What then shall my heart do,
When sorrows draw near,
And music like melody forsakes her place?

Till the day I shall find my heart
Where it is buried in the sand maybe across
The sea and many oceans tempestuous.

Let that day come in earnest for I shall tarry
Till the night owl howls at noon.
And I shall awake at the brink of day.

Yeah, kinda.

Wasn't really into it but recently, I had some Nairalanders/friends on my status always posting new ones they wrote themselves and I just started appreciating it more.

Poetry is beautiful. It’s sad many people in this part of the world don’t value or understand the aesthetic appeal poetry can bring to our lives.

maybe because we have too many wahalas to deal with. This expectedly makes appreciating poetry the list of our worries.
