I think several factors restricted the callup of Tiago Ilori especially the time he broke into the Sporting Lisbon team in his teens. He was seen as a top promising talents. Some touted the idea he would captain the Portuguese side. I think he even at some point captained the Sporting Lisbon team.

I doubt he was ever loyal to the GWG Jersey. He never expressed the idea of representing us. Unless it would have required the NFF going to him and convincing (begging) him to develop passion to play for us.

I think he's brilliant but I have always maintained the Klopp has made more impact judging from where he picked up LIVERPOOL and and having to spend moderately to build until last season when the club built up cash reserve and invested heavily to match city.
