What is your point? That because you're a 'full time' freelancer electricity issues affect you the most?

You think you're thinking critically? What an insult to the term.

Don't define freelancing to me, I'm quite sure I've been in it longer than you have.

Alternative means of power sources? You suddenly think someone would mention how you could make your laptop run without charged battries or your generator without fuel?

Now, given that freelancers can move from one place to another and artisans and other fixed businesses cannot, who suffers the brunt of poor electricity more? Who has more options on how to solve it? Freelancers or traditional businesses?

Now if the answer to this question is the former, what then is the reason for this thread?

What do you want to read? Use power banks, charge your phone regularly? get a good laptop battery or run your generator?

Are these new solutions to new problems? Have you said anything that we aren't familiar with already?

Again I ask, do you think critically at all? Or are you just overly joyous that you're a 'full time freelancer'?

Too many questions, but really I don't want you to answer any. Just think 'critically' about them.

Sincerely speaking, the solution to power problem is known already for serious freelancer. Though, it's good to share knowledge on a thread like this.

I reside in a state in SW where there seems to be 247 Power supply. As a full time freelancer, I'm good with the power supply here. Reason I relocated to this more favorable place.

I guess you're in Osun?

Its not been easy here o. Power supply was stable in my part of Shomolu (predictable an di can plan when I work towards then) but recently, 40% of my earnings has been towards fuelling my generator which isn't really fuel efficient and on weekdays that am not lazy to go out, I just breeze in to National Orthopaedic Hospital where I stay in the library all day

Please do ceiling fans consume more power than standing fans when using inverter, I seem to have more hours of use when using standing fans than using ceiling fans

Great submission.

Such a fairly large generator, which is the option I currently use, consumes a lot of fuel and isn't an economically viable option for me, especially since I don't enjoy 24-hour power supply like you.

I am contemplating opting for (mini) solar power or getting a smaller generator. I don't know how reliable the former option is, and the latter may not be durable even though it is fuel-efficient.

I'm even surprised that you're still contemplating on using solar as a freelancer! For God's sake, you have no other option than to go the way of solar. I am also a freelancer as well as an entrepreneur, and for over a year now, I have been enjoying uninterruptible power supply in my office courtesy of solar. I was rubbished and frustrated by PHCN's epileptic power supply and using generator with its noise and stress such as going to buy fuel all the time, servicing it etc all made my freelancing work a total nightmare! I was always on the brink of missing out on deadlines, rejecting offers because I was afraid I would not meet up and even having issues with my clients when they ask for revisions. Needless to say that my revenue was far below what it should have been. However, all that changed when I installed solar in my office. Immediately after, my stress level dropped drastically as I wasn't bothered about taking any project regardless of time constraints.

I have this odd feeling that Nigerians like suffering because I don't understand why majority of our roofs are not currently covered with solar panels already, considering the fact that we are situated in the equator where sunlight is most intense and can last for up to 7 to 8 hours a day, and this is a natural raw material that is totally free!! I dare to say categorically that if white people are the ones occupying our space and coupled with lack of power supply from the national grid, then every household would have been using solar by now!

I have vowed that I will never use generator again as long as I live in Nigeria because to me it's nothing short of stvpidity to be spending money every day buying fuel, stressing yourself with starting and putting off your generator, servicing it every now and then, enduring noise and air pollution. I don't even use PHCN nor generator both at home and in the office but I enjoy 24/7 uninterruptible power supply through solar. It may be expensive to fix at the onset but with time you will recover your expenses and your energy bill will be zero!!

FIX SOLAR TODAY, AND YOU WILL BE FOREVER GLAD YOU DID!!!

Too many assumptions in your post. Before creating this thread, I am already aware of the potential of solar power.

I am making plans to relocate soon and am seeking MOBILE power solutions for now. From the contributions of some commenters above, I have got the needed information. Thanks.

I get 3 to 4hrs of light daily n I use the light to charge my inverter battery. Three good hours of charging of my inverter battery can give me about 10hrs good hours of steady light cos I use energy saver appliances from TV to electric bulbs.

What is the make your inverter and batteries. For how long have you been using this?

I have a sukam 1.4kva and Rita batteries. They take time to charge. A 4 hrs charge will only last me 4hrs on 1 bulb and fan and telly. I need a more faster charging inverter.

I work from home providing digital marketing and start-up consultancy services for clients.

Power is relatively stable in the part of Lagos where I live (at least up to 12 hours daily), although on some days it can be very bad.

I have an inverter which batteries packed up a while ago and a 2.5kva generator that I refused to unbox primarily because of the noise and the unneeded attention it is bound to draw whenever it is powered.

To meet my daily work deadlines, I upgraded my laptop to a brand new Mac Air. The battery life is 12 hours of minimal use and at least 9 hours of heavy usage. The Swift Internet mifi I use once fully charged can go at least 8 hours. My smartphone (Samsung s8) can go for 8 - 12 hours depending on usage. I have a Nokia feature phone (which is my business line) that does up to 4 days when fully charged. Most times before the battery of my devices drops to 50%, electricity would have been restored and then I can charge my gadgets.

Sometimes, when the work volume is very much, I work from the client offices and at other times, from a co-working space in Opebi just to meet deadlines.

Hello sir, I want to learn digital marketing but I need someone to mentor me

then there's a problem with your system. Has it been like that since the day you installed it? The battery is how many amps? Which kind of t.v are u using? Check the wattage of your tv. I've been using my inverter for almost a year now and it may interest u 2 know that its only 100a.h ups12-400mr battery, and my inverter is 1kva famicare, but all my appliances are energy efficient. My 43 inches led t.v consumes just 35watts, fan 40watts, with 3pcs of 5watts energy saver bright bulbs.

Good evening Chief. I am also a digital marketer but on a part time basis. I've been looking at doing it full time and as a freelancer. Please, What exactly do you do for clients as a freelance digital marketer? And please can you mentor me as well? I would really appreciate it.

I mentioned 3kw ( of solar power) . In details i have 20 panels of 150watt each producing 3kwp of power. but in reality i get only about 1500 watts instantaneous power due to bad weather conditions here; but still enough to charge the batteries, power 2 freezers, 4 TVs, washing machine, sound system, light, fan, every freaking thing * when the sun is up *

If you take a look at the internet router; just below it, is the solar charge controller.

The batteries on the other hands come to play when the sun is out . .say from 6pm or so. Not in the image though; but there are
16 units of 12v 100ah which gives me 19,200 Watt hours of storage (well half of it for max longevity).. . enough to carry those loads i mentioned overnight without sweating ( minus the washing machine and some TVs . every other thing stays )

That's a more detailed explanation.

I wouldn't put an exact price on it.

the charge controller cost #220,000
the red inverter is a 5,000 watt one and can handle 2 air conditioning units: #250,000
you can add 2 + 2 to do the maths.

my location had issues with phcn years ago and phcn disconnected the transformer for months . . the noise and cost of fuel was too much
so the setup was done in mind to replace phcn in its totality (i.e. power the whole house; just like phcn); no item excluded. I am only at 75% or so.
