Hi all,

I received some pms from bankers in Nigeria that would want to continue their banking career here. i will just share the basic knowledge i have here and believe some people already in the bank here will throw more light and or correct my impression if wrong.

for those in branches you can still continue your career here as the banks here have branches and are always recruiting. Doing the mutual funds accreditation in either Investment funds in Canada or Canadian Security course or both before launching yourself into the job market gives you an advantage over others.

Also Acces employment is a good employment agency to connect with if you intend to land a banking job because they have link with almost all the banks and do career fair with the banks while training you.

The main roles in the branches are client advisor, banking advisor and financial advisor and the major banks are RBC, TD, CIBC, SCOTIA and BMO. you also have customer service representative which is like contact centre job in Nigeria.

Feel free to google these banks and the roles to see their job descriptions. This will help you decide if it is something you can do. good sites to search for jobs are indeed, glassdoor and the banks' career sites

Please the experienced Canadian bankers here can throw more light oin career in the banks here especially the branches and the certifications required to get into the system. Once you get in with your Nigerian experience you can always navigate your way to other departments(a foot in the door) and also the difference between the 2 certifications.

Thanks
Thanks so much dear.

Hi
Teaching is a regulated profession so you might need to have your qualifications and experience assessed by a regulatory body.

Check out:

https://certification.ednet.ns.ca/internationally-educated-teachers

https://www.edu.gov.mb.ca/k12/profcert/certificates/iet/certificates.html

About thr jobs? There are jobs but but just like nursing or similar professions you might kick off your career working as a substitute teacher.

Yes

Thanks for your response. I asked the question because are of the opinion that if you do sir for ALL CIMA papers, you cannot apply for CPA designation. In other words, that getting exemptions and writing just one paper will not qualify one for CPA.

Who has gone through this process Please?

Its definitely scam If the sender claim to be IRCC. Did you apply through an agent? Then the message might be from your agent trying to update you on progress.

This ICAN/CIMA MRA that currently exists whereby you are exempted from all papers and only get to write 1 paper WILL NOT qualify you for the CPA MRA. They have this part that says you can’t apply for conversion if you obtained the qualification via MRA.
But if you were a CIMA student (No MRAs anywhere) and you wrote some exams and we’re exempted from others or wrote all exams, then you can benefit.
Best option is to send the regulatory body of your intended province a mail

ICAN/CIMA is not a MRA as such , it's just the same thing as ICAN/ACCA, WITH Cima ,you write only one paper, with ACCA you write 4 papers

For Engineers and geoscientist who are preparing for the Professional Practice Exam which is part of the requirements for licensing, I have a couple materials you may find helpful. I uploaded a folder of the materials to google drive to make it easy to share.

The folder contains various text on PPE for Engineers and Geoscientist, past exam questions and a few answered ones, PPE course material by the EPIC center and lastly a dump of www.practiceppeexams.ca.

I hope you find it helpful. Here is the google drive link

If this message is from your agent, request to see the message in its raw form unedited. I doubt if IP1 and 2 matter these days. Moreso, why go for an agent? These same agents come here to sniff for information.

CPA's conditions for ACCA and CIMA differ. With 4 papers in ACCA, you are good to go with CPA conversion.
