On Friday 10th May, 2019, Ugbe Dominic, a 200 level Student of the department of Guidance and Counseling, faculty of Education, Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH) Calabar Campus, lost his life in a pool party.

The student died after consuming excessive water during a pool party which was said to be hosted by his department. The party took place at Jacaranda Hotel and suites, Calabar.

By the time he was rushed to the hospital and medical examinations carried out the Obudu born had passed on, it was gathered.

Shockingly, the institution have lost not fewer than four Students this semester.

RIP to him.

I keep saying it. If you don't know how to swim, don't go near any body of water. There is nothing to prove to anyone.

As for me, i don't go into any water that is above my knees. Yes, call me names, i don't mind. It's better to answer a 'Jew man' and live than to form Michael Phelps and die.

Water intoxication

Water intoxication, also known as water poisoning, hyperhydration, overhydration, or water toxemia is a potentially fatal disturbance in brain functions that results when the normal balance of electrolytes in the body is pushed outside safe limits by excessive water intake.

Water, just like any other substance, can be considered a poison when over-consumed in a specific period of time. Water intoxication mostly occurs when water is being consumed in a high quantity without adequate electrolyte intake.[2]
Excess of body water may also be a result of a medical condition or improper treatment; see "hyponatremia" for some examples. Water is considered one of the least toxic chemical compounds, with an LD50 of over 90 ml/kg in rats.[3]
