It seems buhari isn't aware he's the president of Nigeria. This clueless mofo is challenging the elites? What a joke. This mumu is way more clueless than GEJ. how did we even get here for God's sake? Someone with no secondary school certificate ruling a country with millions of university graduates. Haaaa!

If below is True..... then Pres. Buhari, is really not aware of his status,as the president of almost 200m people.

Buhari, who said he was upset with the level of poverty in the land, challenged the elite to do something very urgent to ameliorate the pathetic situation.

President Muhammadu Buhari, Monday night, disclosed that he warned his deputy, Yemi Osinbajo, to always stay safe to avoid being mobbed during Trader Moni disbursement in markets across Nigeria.

He said this at the breaking of fast at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he hosted top government officials.

Buhari, who said he was upset with the level of poverty in the land, challenged the elite to do something very urgent to ameliorate the pathetic situation.

“When I drive around the country what upset me very much is the status of our poor people in this country – you see young people, the so-called Almajiris with tore dresses, with plastic bowl. They are looking basically for what to eat.

“The question of education (to them) is a luxury. I think Nigerian elite we are all failing because I think we should have a programme that will at least guarantee some basic education for our people no matter how poor they are.

“So, I welcome the Vice-President initiate of the School feeding programme. If you check in your localities the enrolment into schools improved because a lot of children can get at least one good meal a day. This is the position of this country.

“This `market money’, I warned the Vice-President. I don’t like him to be mobbed, especially the way I see hefty women coming and confronting him, he should be very careful.

“These are very good initiates. Initially, I was quite reluctant but I must admit that they are very good programmes and they endear this government to a lot of poor people because of these N5,000 or N10,000 being given to them as loans.

“They are fantastic programmes and I have to admit quite honestly that the Vice-President was ahead of me by insisting on them.

“But he knows me if he insists I will say `okay go and do what you like.’ He did it and I’m very pleased as he is being very successful,’’ he said
.

Vice-President Osinbajo, who spoke on behalf of the members of the cabinet, said that regardless of ethnic and religion affiliations Nigerians must continue to be their brothers’ keepers and must work towards building a united nation.

On the Ramadan period, Osinbajo said: “Mr President I must say that there are some reasons I had always look forward to the Ramadan session. But some of those reasons are now being seriously challenged.

It's like this one is mad....what happened to the Almajiri schools built by the previous administration but abandoned by him. They are busy spending money on school feeding scheme which is not sustainable but prefer not to spend money on upgrading the derelict infrastructure of public schools. 95% of governors under him are the worst performing governors in recent times. This government is just a huge lie.

Ok, but tasking the elites to do the job of the government is a way of admitting that the government has failed in its duties, just like the way you guys are waiting for Dangote to build refinery for Nigeria.
And the talk about almajiri, that should be a story for another day.

Well he counted himself among the elites. I'm forced to agree with him on this one. BTW, the government can not do it alone.

The Nigerian elites are not helping matters at all

They are "me and my family alone" people...

But I smell more banditry exercise, to the extent of kidnapping wealthy people in the nation especially in the north, this would happen in the nearest future and one we are experiencing now will be like enjoyment in the sight of the one to come

This people keep eating what the so call almajiris and other poor children should benefit from and we say we don't want kidnappings.

God bless Nig

President Buhari and the elites , fix electricity to at least 16 hours a day in all major key states or cities in Nigeria and businesses will start booming. Hence unemployment will drop and the level of poverty will drop. When there is light , you can on fan, sleep well , wake up well and have better idea to start business Till then time is wasting.

Stop talking like a school boy. tell me anyway the world over where government provides all for the citizens. companies, industries and Influencial members of the society provide social amenities to serve the people around them. And that is what Mr President was talking about.

We can’t live everything for the government to do for us. We should also look at ways we can as well assist, that’s why the western world is growing better

But the government is responsible for providing the infrastructure needed to create a developed economy. If you look at all developed countries, one thing common is constant electricity. When the Nigerian government cannot provide light constantly, how do you expect the citizens to do for their country. If Toyota want to even build an assembly plant in Port Harcourt which will create jobs for thousands of graduates, how will such companies do so with poor electricity output? I do not blame such companies for avoiding Nigeria.

Yea, sure but its expected that the govt leads by example. With the way it has become a norm for govt office holders to squander monies meant for the development of the nation, you should not expect any elite to do anything with their hard earned resources.
And by the way, never you compared the scenario in Nigeria to that of USA, their are climes and their are very sane climes.

Previous government had an alternative for these kids, but u came to power and abandoned all that was put in place for them..e.g the alamajiri schools built by Jonathan that u abandoned... U should first blame urself before the elite..

bro I get ur point totally but may thinking change in 2014 Wen I started working in dangote cement obese plant....the company has a power plant which I realized it was cheaper Dan he using govt power.....the thing is D's group of elite don't want to see this country grow because it will be at there disadvantage we av more billionaire in D's country Dan in the US but the difference is our don't love the country dey prefer wasting the money abroad and lie govt is not providing infrastructure# dangote built ibese to ilaro road all by himself because he wanted is business to grow#
