Sincerely, we need to take a chill pill as a people and get to understand that there is life outside "The USA". I understand the desperation to go see the abroad and all, but hey, it shouldn't come at such high costs like is being displayed here. Lies, deceit, fake documents etc. are too high a cost.

I'm supposed to be in Germany this week to give an expert submission at a workshop, all expenses paid by the organisers, but cant make it because it takes 8 days now to process Germany's Visa (Schengen) for Nigerians in London and I received my invite letter really late.

I simply told the organisers that I would deliver my presentation and take questions via teleconference. They insisted I submit my Visa application while they communicate for urgency and all that, but I simply said No. Why the desperation? I was there late last year and so no rush. When next you require my submissions, send the invite in time.

Let's sit down and build capacity/reputation back home. I built one that's why I can travel and have those expenses sponsored. These embassies shouldn't be feeding fat on our ignorance and desperation. They can see it on our faces when we apply.

Immigrants, both legal and illegal, are actually net "inputers" into the US economy, not net takers (as the Trump administration found out). And they may not have skills but they perform the low wage jobs that Americans are no longer interested in performing, that allow the costs of goods and services provided within the country to remain low. That is the value of "illegal" immigrants bring to the table. Ain't no American soul gonna bust his/her but to earn $4 a day to pick fruit in the hot sun for 12 hours a day with no health insurance. But you and I know that doing work, even illegally in the US can put you in a better financial position than working day in and day out for employers in this country.

Effective at the close of business today, Tuesday, May 14, 2019, the U.S. Mission to Nigeria is indefinitely suspending interview waivers for renewals, otherwise known as the “Dropbox” process. Visa applications will no longer be accepted by DHL in Nigeria. Those who have already submitted their passports via “Dropbox” to DHL for processing either at the U.S. Embassy in Abuja, or the Consulate General in Lagos, will not be impacted by this change.

All applicants in Nigeria seeking a nonimmigrant visa to the United States must apply online, and will be required to appear in-person at the U.S. Embassy in Abuja or U.S. Consulate General in Lagos to submit their application for review. Applicants must appear at the location they specified when applying for the visa renewal.

Processing of diplomatic and official (A, G, and NATO class) visa applications will continue unchanged.

Mission Nigeria’s processing procedures are regularly reviewed in order to assess our ability to quickly, efficiently, and securely process visa applications. My dad used to say this - if you today because of hunger eat out of the waste bin, you wont be able to convince those who saw you eat out of the waste bin you no longer do when you become rich tomorrow. Why lose your self esteem and self worth and somebodiness because of Visa?

How can a 19 years old be going to the USA for sight seeing when he has no work and claims to be an undergrad? If mom/dad are boxed up and the family is going on a vacation then that's understandable. Otherwise, sit your ass down and read your books. Get great grades and secure your tomorrow.

How can your first trip outside Nigeria as a middle class person be to attend a friend's birthday. You earn 350K or even 500K and think heaven should fall? That's an average monthly rent for a 2 bed (exclusive of bills and council tax). Invest your money in money spinning ventures and build great capital that will portray you in gr8 light when it is the right time to apply for these visas.

How can an engineer or IT professional be attending a purely based medical conference or vice versa. I know IT plays a role in medicine but basically application and such conferences are easily distinguishable. These VO are becoming very smart. They are asking the right questions now and will mostly pick you out.

Even for me as a professional here in the UK I wouldn't visit the US except I'm being sponsored because its expensive. Hotels alone in the Bay area, feeding (I eat Nigerian meals anywhere and it's very pricey), mobility (uber rides), non-stop flights and conference/workshop registration all cost serious money. Don't forget the caution deposits in hotels and all that. A 4 night trip will be around $3500-$4000! I can't spend that from my own savings at this level.
